Vietnam increases its own radar power to monitor the East Sea
With the Coastal Radar Tropicalization Project, Vietnam's radar stations will have their monitoring capabilities in the East Sea significantly enhanced.
Self-empowerment
According to PK-KQ newspaper, the Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center is implementing a project to tropicalize coastal radar equipment. Among the stations in coastal areas, the Kastaz - E2 station of Station 29, Regiment 292 (Division 375) is the first station to undergo tropicalization testing.
Initially, the entire radar station was carefully preserved and maintained, then experts applied specialized protective layers to the components: rubber, metal, circuit boards, connectors, and terminals...
Each component made of different materials is covered and protected with suitable materials to prevent saltwater intrusion. The first tropicalized radar has been in use for nearly 2 months.

Although the monitoring and testing period was not long, the initial feedback from the unit was very good. The stability and accuracy of the equipment remained the same. The frequency of equipment failures (compared to the failure statistics of equipment before tropicalization) decreased significantly, and the effort of the troops in maintaining and repairing the equipment was also reduced...
Along with the Radar Tropicalization Project, the Project of Covering Balls for Coastal Radar Stations has also been implemented in Vietnam. In July 2017, three cover balls were completed and put into use, initially confirming their superiority.
The bridge cover system has a durable structure, can withstand strong winds and storms, and has guaranteed electromagnetic transparency so it does not affect the detection and tracking of targets by the equipment.
With the protection of the bridge, the equipment's durability increases, the frequency of breakdowns decreases, the maintenance and preservation process of the equipment is still maintained regularly and strictly, but all the work of the soldiers has been greatly reduced compared to before.
"The Eye of Indochina"
Considered the "eye of Indochina", Radar Station 29 on Son Tra peak can capture all targets within a surveillance range of hundreds of kilometers. Currently, this air traffic control and early warning radar station is responsible for monitoring and monitoring air traffic in the entire East Sea, covering the entire Gulf of Tonkin and the airspace of Indochina.
No flight or foreign object that enters the airspace controlled by this radar station can escape its target. To prevent the Fatherland from being attacked unexpectedly from the air, the "sky guards" on Son Tra peak must keep their eyes glued to the radar screen 24/7.
For soldiers of other branches, fighting is limited, but radar is always in combat mode and is focused on high readiness. Because with the speed of modern aircraft, which is faster than the speed of sound, if you are not vigilant for a split second, your airspace will be violated.
In addition to the task of guarding the peaceful skies of the Fatherland, Radar Station 29 also has the especially important task of guiding fighter planes.
To avoid surprises to the Fatherland, the mission of radar soldiers is very sacred. The smooth coordination between the navigator and the fighter pilots is extremely important. In any war, in the victory as well as the defeat of the air force, radar always contributes a significant part.
