Successfully rescued 17 fishermen and fishing boats in distress at sea over 150 nautical miles
(Baonghean.vn) - After 31 hours and traveling 150 nautical miles, the Nghe An Border Guard Squadron 2 successfully rescued a fishing boat and 17 fishermen from Quynh Luu district in distress at sea, bringing them safely to shore.
Previously, as reported, at 6:00 p.m. on October 13, 2018, fishing boat NA 90988TS with 18 crew members, captained by Mr. Nguyen Ba Duan, residing in Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district, and 16 crew members, was operating seafood exploitation in an area southeast of Cua Hoi, Nghe An (about 72 nautical miles), when the engine broke down, water flooded the boat and it was at risk of sinking; the captain requested urgent rescue.

Upon receiving the news, the Nghe An Border Guard Command dispatched ship CN09 (BP 06.19.01) and 15 officers to urgently rescue the fishing boat. At 8:00 p.m. on October 14, the rescue ship approached the distressed vessel, conducted rescue operations and towed the distressed vessel to shore.
After 31 hours of overcoming storms, at 5:30 p.m. on October 15, the Border Guard force successfully rescued 17 crew members and towed the fishing boat safely to Cua Lo port.
