Laotian license plate car has secret compartment containing 100 heroin cakes

On March 31, Vice Chairwoman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee Vu Thi Thu Thuy awarded 20 million VND from the Provincial People's Committee to the Road and Railway Traffic Police Department and 10 million VND to the Provincial Police Drug Police Department for their achievements in arresting a case of transporting 100 heroin by car.

The Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security also gave the working group a bonus of 10 million VND and set an example of good people and good deeds in the entire force.

Previously, at around 1 p.m. on March 29, a working group from Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 2 of Quang Ninh Provincial Police inspected a car with Lao license plate 2U-8118 traveling through Ha Long City, showing unusual signs.

Suspect Phan Tha Vong was arrested with 100 heroin cakes.

At the time of the inspection, there were two people in the car: driver Phung Trung Dung, residing in Dong Tien commune, Quynh Phu district, Thai Binh province, and Phan Tha Vong, 37 years old, residing in Vientiane city, Laos.

At three locations under the trunk, the side of the car and under the driver's seat, the authorities discovered homemade secret compartments. In the compartments were a total of 100 compressed heroin bricks.

In addition, the authorities also discovered on Dung's person several small bags and tablets suspected to be synthetic drugs.

Phung Trung Dung and Phan Tha Vong confessed to transporting 100 heroin cakes to the border area for consumption.

Currently, the case is being further investigated by the police.
