Trial of illegal purchase and destruction of forest land in Con Cuong

On September 29, the People's Court of Con Cuong district opened a trial for the case of "Forest Destruction" for Vo Van Su (born 1983), in Vinh Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, Nghe An province.
According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Con Cuong district: In 2006, the family of Mr. Vi Van Xuan (born in 1968), residing in Xieng village, Don Phuc commune, was assigned 104,921m2 by the People's Committee of Con Cuong district.2Forestry land in Don Phuc commune for management, protection and long-term use according to Decree 163/1999/ND-CP dated November 16, 1999 of the Government with a term of use until May 2054.

By May 2016, due to lack of money to build a house, Mr. Xuan had toillegal transferThe entire area of forest land above was transferred to Mr. Nguyen Trong Hanh (born in 1979), residing in Hamlet 6, Hung Son Commune, Anh Son District, Nghe An Province. The sale between Mr. Hanh and Mr. Xuan had not been licensed by the competent authority, but in February 2021, Vo Van Su wanted to buy land, Mr. Nguyen Trong Hanh sold the entire area of forest land above to Su for more than 188 million VND.
The land transfer process between Nguyen Trong Hanh and Vo Van Su has not been approved by the competent authority. By around March 2021, Su had hired someone to clear the entire forest land area in lot 36, section 7, sub-area 750, plot 34, map sheet number 4 in Don Phuc commune, Con Cuong district to plant acacia with an area of 6,861m2.
During the process of clearing the forest, the authorities of Don Phuc commune discovered and made a record and asked the subjects to stop cutting and clearing, and reported the incident to the Con Cuong District Forest Protection Department. At the same time, Vo Van Su was present at the scene. Su used insulting words to the working group and then used his personal mobile phone to record the incident, posting 02 articles and video images on his Facebook page named "Su Den".
For the above acts, the People's Court of Con Cuong district decided to sentence Vo Van Su to 12 months in prison. Previously, in April 2021, Vo Van Su was administratively fined VND 11,000,000 by the Con Cuong District Forest Protection Department for illegal deforestation. The defendant paid the fine but the time limit for implementing the decision has not expired.
