Instead of his wife having skin-to-skin contact with his daughter, the Australian father gently pressed the baby to his chest and looked at her affectionately.

Holding a newborn baby in your arms and warm chest is the happiest moment in a father’s life. However, for Glenn Sheppard of Queensland, that joy is overshadowed by sadness and pain. A black and white photo of him skin-to-skin with his baby daughter Willa posted on Facebook earlier this week after his wife’s death touched many people. The photo was quickly shared across social media sites.
In the two photos posted, Glenn is holding his newborn daughter to his chest, his eyes looking down at her lovingly. Baby Willa is wearing a diaper, her arm still attached to an IV. Her eyes are wide open, looking up at her father. According to The Sun, Glenn's wife, Amanda, died in the operating room due to complications from an arterial blockage during childbirth. She never got the chance to see her little love born. When she was alive, this mother was very eager to meet her child.
Her death is being treated as unnatural and is being investigated by the hospital. Glenn's friends have launched a fundraising page to help Glenn through this difficult time. In just three days, nearly 400 people from Australia and around the world have expressed their support for Glenn and his father. The total amount received is now more than $23,000.
