Female police officer sentenced for hiring someone to put drugs in lover's car for 1 billion VND
Because of jealousy, Vung hired someone to put drugs in his lover's car for 1 billion VND. As a result, Vung was sentenced to 7 years in prison.
At the appeal hearing, Nguyen Thi Van maintained her testimony at the police station. Accordingly, Van affirmed: "Ms. Vung was the one who suggested putting drugs in Mr. Thien's car, provided the drugs and reported to the police. The defendant promised to pay Vung 1 billion VND but only gave 200 million VND."

During the sentencing, the panel of judges held that there was no basis to reduce the sentence for defendant Nguyen Thi Vung, so they upheld the original sentence of 7 years in prison for the two crimes of Illegal possession of narcotics and Slander against Nguyen Thi Vung.
Previously, according to the indictment and the first-instance trial, defendant Vung, a former police lieutenant who worked at the Anti-Smuggling Police Department (Ministry of Public Security), received money to put drugs in the car of Nguyen Van Thien (born in 1976) in order to put Thien in prison at the request of defendant Nguyen Thi Van (born in 1982, Thien's lover).
During their time living together, Van and Thien had many conflicts over money, and because of jealousy, Van tried to harm Thien. To do this, Van met Vung and asked if she could buy drugs and put them in his car, then secretly report them to the police. Vung agreed.
Van agreed that if Vung cooperated in putting Thien in jail, he would be paid 1 billion VND. Then, Van proactively transferred 200 million VND in advance as a deposit.
On October 28, 2016, Vung sent someone to bring 7 grams of heroin to Van and said: "If we get caught with just 2 grams, we're dead." Van listened and secretly put drugs in Thien's car. That same evening, Thien drove with Van to meet a customer when the Hanoi City Police stopped the car for inspection and discovered drugs.
Although there were drugs in the car, the authorities could not prove that Thien had committed the crime. While Thien was being detained, Vung asked Van to pay 1 billion VND as agreed. Because he did not have enough money, on October 31, 2016, Van took the red book of the apartment in the Nam Thang Long urban area and 200 million VND and gave it to Vung.
After a week of detention, Mr. Thien was released because the police did not have enough evidence to prove that he was in possession of drugs. Suspecting that his lover had harmed him, Mr. Thien collected and provided evidence for the police to arrest Van./.
