Yen Thanh: Discipline commune and town chairmen if they are lax in epidemic prevention and control work

Accordingly, in localities that are lax in disease prevention and control, the chairmen of the People's Committees of communes and towns must be disciplined by the Chairman of the District People's Committee.

Faced with the complicated developments of African swine fever in many communes and the laxity in disease prevention and control in some localities, on August 27, the People's Committee of Yen Thanh district issued Official Dispatch No. 08/CD-UBND on rectifying the work of preventing and controlling African swine fever.
Accordingly, the District People's Committee requested the People's Committees of communes and towns, heads of relevant departments and offices to urgently implement a number of solutions: Step up propaganda, guidance and mobilization of livestock farmers to clean the barn area; prepare enough lime powder and chemicals to disinfect the walkways and gates of the barn...
Strengthen management of animal quarantine, slaughter control and veterinary hygiene to detect and prevent the spread of diseases through transportation, trade and consumption. It is recommended that livestock farmers, especially small and medium-sized livestock farmers and livestock farmers in areas with high livestock density and high risk of disease outbreaks, not restock their herds.

Communes and towns must resolutely and seriously inspect and handle cases of consuming pigs and pork products of unknown origin, pork sold without a slaughter control stamp from the veterinary agency; peddling pork and pork products on sidewalks and roadsides; and small-scale slaughtering in residential areas. If there is laxity in disease prevention and control, the chairmen of the People's Committees of communes and towns must be disciplined by the chairman of the district People's Committee.
Yen Thanh District People's Committee requested localities to consider the task of preventing, combating and controlling African swine fever as a key and urgent task at present, thoroughly implementing the motto "preventing the epidemic like fighting the enemy".
As of August 29, in Yen Thanh district, African swine fever had occurred in 840 households, in 154 hamlets of 32 communes. The total number of infected pigs that had been culled was 3,852, with a total weight of 170,870 kg (accounting for more than 27% of the province's culled pigs).
The epidemic is currently complicated in the communes of Phuc Thanh, Hau Thanh, Nhan Thanh, Phu Thanh, Nam Thanh, Cong Thanh, Long Thanh, Vien Thanh, Van Thanh...
