22 days Vietnam has no Covid-19 infections in the community
As of 6am on May 8, Vietnam recorded no new cases of Covid-19. The country recorded a total of 288 cases.
The Ministry of Health said that from 6:00 a.m. on April 16 to 6:00 a.m. on May 8 (22 days), Vietnam had no cases of community transmission.As of 6:00 a.m. on May 8, there were a total of 148 imported cases that were immediately quarantined.
On the afternoon of May 7, the Ministry of Health announced the discovery of 17 Covid-19 cases in one day, but there is no cause for concern.On May 3, 2020, Vietnamese authorities, the Vietnamese Embassy in the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam Airlines organized flight VN0088 to bring 297 Vietnamese citizens back to the country.
Immediately after entering the country, all 297 passengers were taken to a centralized quarantine facility at the Bac Lieu Province Student Dormitory. Here, all samples were taken for testing. According to the test results announced on May 7 by the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City, 17 cases were positive and 280 cases were negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Total number of people in close contact and entering from epidemic areas being monitored for health (quarantined): 16,525, of which:
- Concentrated quarantine at hospital: 162
- Centralized quarantine at other facilities: 6,693
- Quarantine at home or place of residence: 9,670
According to the report of the Treatment Subcommittee of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control:
- Number of cases testing negative for SARS-CoV-2 for the first time: 14 cases.
- Number of cases testing negative for SARS-CoV-2 twice or more: 7 cases.
