8 brothers invited each other to play poker after the death anniversary.

On the afternoon of June 13, Tan Ky District People's Court tried a criminal case against 8 people residing in Tan Long Commune (Tan Ky) for gambling.

According to the indictment, at about 1:30 p.m. on March 16, 2019, after attending a memorial service at the house of Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (born in 1968) residing in Tan Ho hamlet, Tan Long commune, Tan Ky district, 8 subjects including: Ngo Ngoc Thong (born in 1994), Ngo Xuan Hanh (born in 1972), Ngo Ngoc Tinh (born in 1972), Nguyen Van Huong (born in 1968), Nguyen Thanh An (born in 1976), Ngo Xuan Thai, Luong Si Thanh, Nguyen Van Bien (born in 1957) were sitting drinking water and then invited each other to gamble.

After that, Thong went to buy a deck of cards and all 8 people went into the storage room behind Mrs. Huong's house to gamble. When Thong opened the storage room door, he saw a bamboo mat already spread out, so all 8 people sat down on the mat and each person put 10,000 VND in the middle of the mat to play poker.

Everyone agreed to bet 10,000 VND per game, whoever wants to buy has to put in another 20,000 VND.

At about 2:30 p.m. the same day, while the subjects were gambling with each other, the Tan Ky District Police force raided and caught them red-handed, seizing 5,300,000 VND from the gambling table.

The working group made a record of the arrest of the above subjects, kept the related exhibits and then escorted the subjects to the headquarters for work.

The investigation determined that the amount of money the defendants used for gambling purposes was 7,540,000 VND.

The People's Court sentenced the subjects to 61 months of non-custodial reform.
