These types of crimes resulted in the loss of 3 cars, 43 motorbikes, 211 mobile phones, 16 gold necklaces, 3 gold bars, 220 silver bars, 152 gold taels, 33 computers, over 9 billion VND in cash (including various foreign currencies and Vietnamese currency), and other assets worth approximately 23 billion VND.
From May 16, 2017 to August 15, 2017, the police in various units and localities investigated and clarified 415 cases involving 554 suspects of property theft, 15 cases involving 28 suspects of robbery, and 13 cases involving 29 suspects of snatching property. According to the Nghe An Provincial Police, the methods and tactics of property theft, robbery, and snatching criminals are becoming increasingly sophisticated and cunning; the perpetrators tend to collude with each other, forming gangs and groups to steal, rob, and snatch property and operate across districts and provinces.

Some criminals operate in a mobile manner, quickly leaving the area and disposing of evidence after committing a crime. Most of these offenders have prior criminal records, giving them considerable experience in evading law enforcement.
Besides residential homes, school buildings, and offices, this type of crime also targets Catholic churches and temples to steal property, causing panic and anxiety among the public.
