The runner-up in Nghe An province shares the secret to achieving 29.5 points in Block C.

In a conversation with us, Thuy Tin shared that she was born and raised in a family where both parents are farmers. Her father currently works as a laborer in Laos, and her mother stays at home farming. Because she felt sorry for her parents' hard work, she has been self-motivated to study since she was young. She has three sisters; her eldest sister is currently studying far away, so besides her schoolwork, Thuy Tin helps her parents with farm work and housework, and she studies on her own in the evenings.

Thanks to her hard work and dedication, Thuy Tin consistently ranked among the top students in her class from elementary school to high school. In the provincial-level excellent student competition for 12th grade, she won third prize in Geography. In this year's national high school graduation exam, Thuy Tin impressed everyone by achieving the highest score in the humanities/social sciences group in Anh Son district and ranking second in Nghe An province with 29.5 points, including 9.5 points in Literature, 10 points in History, and 10 points in Geography.

For Nguyen Thi Thuy Tin, achieving high scores in the high school graduation exam required her to practice diligently every hour and every day throughout her three years of high school. Although her strengths lay in natural sciences during junior high school, she only switched to studying the humanities subjects in grade 10.

Thùy Tin said: "The humanities subjects (Block C) are quite demanding in terms of knowledge, so during the review process, not only do you need to be diligent, but you also need a suitable method and schedule. Entering 12th grade, I started to accelerate and focus my studies. Therefore, I divided my studies into many scientific stages for each subject and set goals for myself."

In the first semester, I focused on mastering the fundamental knowledge, paying particular attention to the textbook. In the second semester, alongside reviewing the basics, I began to familiarize myself with different question types and specific exam formats.

In addition, I also bought many books with practice test questions and spent time accessing the internet to learn, expand my knowledge, and practice different types of questions. During the final stages of preparation, I maintained the habit of waking up early at 4 am because the quiet environment at this time helped me study very effectively.

In the three subjects of Literature, History, Geography, and Computer Science, Thuy didn't prioritize any one subject over the others and created her own schedule for each subject and each day. For Literature, she focused intensely on studying from the beginning of 12th grade, studying all the literary works. For each essay, she carefully reviewed the content, including characters, situations, thematic and artistic value, and the deeper meaning of each work. She divided it into sections and analyzed them, then asked her teacher to help correct her work.

For History, I focused on reviewing important historical topics and periods of Vietnam and the world. I made sure to thoroughly understand historical events, their causes, consequences, and impacts.

Regarding Geography, Thuy Tin shared that her key was to have a solid understanding of general geography, including the topography, climate, resources, and population of Vietnam and the world. For multiple-choice exams, Thuy Tin followed a "easy first, difficult later" approach, answering the questions within her capabilities first before tackling the more difficult ones. Thanks to this method, she achieved a perfect score of 10 in both History and Geography.

Sharing her feelings during the exam days, the top-scoring female student in the humanities/social sciences group from Anh Son district said that, in part, her success was due to preparing herself mentally, maintaining a confident and optimistic attitude before the exam.

Entering the exam room, despite feeling nervous, I still tried to apply the test-taking method I had planned beforehand. The first thing I did was to answer all the questions because skipping even one question would greatly affect the overall score.

Next, I paid attention to presenting my answer as a well-structured essay with clear line breaks. I am very happy and grateful for achieving such a high score after all my efforts and hard work. This is a gift of gratitude I send to my parents and teachers, those who have always supported, accompanied, and guided me. I plan to use this result to apply to the Primary Education program at Vinh University, to fulfill my dream of becoming a teacher.

In class, Thuy Tin was very attentive, actively absorbed the knowledge, and had a high level of eagerness to learn. Especially during the exam preparation period, she diligently sought out different types of exam questions, and for difficult questions, she would ask her teachers for help. When I learned her exam results, as her homeroom teacher and direct instructor, I was very happy and proud.

Besides Thuy Tin's impressive achievement, among the 8 students who scored 10 in Anh Son 1 High School, 6 were from class 12D1. Furthermore, class 12D1 had 20 students who achieved a total score of 50.0 or higher across 6 subjects; 43 out of 46 students scored 9.0 or higher in Literature, with an average score of 9.26 in Literature.
