Three new cases of nCoV infection in Binh Thuan

Cases 36, 37, and 38 are relatives and employees of a businesswoman in Binh Thuan who returned from the US, the Ministry of Health announced.

After "patient number 34" was confirmed to have Covid-19, the Center for Disease Control of Binh Thuan province conducted an epidemiological investigation and took samples of 15 people in contact with him and sent them to the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang on March 11. The results showed three positive cases.

The first person is a maid for the above businessman, female, 64 years old, with fever symptoms.

The second person is an employee, female, 37 years old, with fever.

The third person is the daughter-in-law, 28 years old, with symptoms of fever and cough.

These people are being isolated and treated at the Provincial General Hospital.

"Patient 34", suspected to be the source of infection for these three patients, is a 51-year-old businessman who traveled from Vietnam to the US via South Korea, then returned via Qatar, entered Tan Son Nhat airport on the morning of March 2, and traveled by private car to Binh Thuan. On March 5, the patient had a cough and fever. Four days later, she was hospitalized for isolation and treatment, and was confirmed positive on March 10. During the eight days from returning to Vietnam until being hospitalized, she came into contact with many people including relatives, employees, and partners.

Up to now, Vietnam has 38 cases of nCoV infection, 16 cases have recovered.22 cases are being isolated and treated.

Patients can be considered to belong to the following groups:

- From South Korea: "patient number 18";

- From England on flight VN54: "patient 17" and two people infected by her; "patient 21"; 11 foreign tourists (from number 22 to 31, number 33); and "patient 35";

- From England on private plane: "patient 32";

- From the US: "patient 34" and three subsequent cases, 36, 37, 38.

In addition to the 38 cases of nCoV infection, nationwide as of this morning there are 113 suspected cases being isolated and closely monitored for health. Suspected cases are people with an epidemiological history and symptoms of cough, fever, and difficulty breathing.

The number of people quarantined and under medical supervision is nearly 25,000, an increase of nearly 5,000 cases compared to the previous day. People who must be quarantined are those who do not have symptoms such as cough, fever, or difficulty breathing but have epidemiological factors of the disease.
