Her eldest son, Tran Huu Thong (born in 1974), was stationed in the army in an area affected by Agent Orange. After being discharged from the army, he returned to his hometown, got married and had a son, Tran Huu Hung (born in 1997). Hung showed unusual symptoms and was constantly sick. When he was 6 months old, the hospital concluded that he had cerebral palsy due to the effects of Agent Orange from his father. The family took him to many places hoping for treatment, but to no avail.

Her family was poor and could not afford to take her son to the hospital for treatment. Since learning that his son was infected with Agent Orange because of him, Mr. Thong also became ill, often broke things and left home. His wife could not bear the sight of her husband and sick child, so she left for the South to start her own family.
Both her son and grandchild are sick. Ms. Chinh has to take care of her son and her cerebral palsy grandson alone. The family is poor and has no workers, so life is increasingly difficult.
After posting the article, Ms. Vo Thi Que in Vinh Tan Apartment Complex sent gifts including cash and some necessities through Nghe An Newspaper to encourage the old lady.
