Flood relief for people in flooded area of ​​Quynh Luu

Due to the impact of the circulation after storm No. 4 causing heavy rain combined with water flowing from upstream, Quynh Hong commune and neighboring communes such as Quynh Dien, Quynh Giang, Quynh Hung, Quynh Lam, Cau Giat town were deeply flooded. Quynh Hong commune alone had more than 1,000 households flooded, water flooded into their houses. In some places, the water rose from 1m to 1.5m, concentrated in Hong Yen and Hong Nguyen villages and some other villages.

To get to Hong Yen and Hong Nguyen villages - the most flooded areas, causing many households to be almost isolated, the relief team of Quynh Hong commune had to mobilize large trucks to transport necessities through 3 communes, a distance of nearly 10 km to reach the supply area.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tan - teacher at Quynh Hong Primary School (Quynh Luu) said: “Although these two villages are only about 2km from the commune center, due to some roads being deeply flooded, cars and motorbikes cannot access them, so the relief team had to take another route, crossing many communes to reach their destination. These are the two villages with the deepest flooding, with some houses being 1-1.5m high, and these households were evacuated to safety. After 2 days of flooding, the water is still rising, and people are isolated, so the team approached each family to provide them with necessities.”

The delegation distributed instant noodles, drinking water and clean water treatment chemicals to households.

The relief vehicle stopped in front of the flooded area of ​​Hong Yen village, Quynh Hong commune. Each member quickly transported necessities onto the boat to deliver to each household to distribute to the people.

Seeing the relief team arrive, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa - a resident of Hong Yen village shared: “This is the second year our area has been flooded, the water level rose more than 1 meter. Many people had to evacuate to higher neighbors' houses to ensure safety. Isolated, unable to go out, but now the relief team from Quynh Hong commune has come to supply 1 box of instant noodles, 1 tank of filtered water and 1 pack of clean water treatment medicine, so the people are very touched. It is true that "a piece when hungry is worth a package when full".
