Vinh City General Hospital saves patient with critical cardiogenic shock and septic shock
(Baonghean.vn) - Patient Nguyen Huu Can (76 years old) suffered from critical cardiogenic shock and septic shock and was successfully treated by doctors at Vinh City General Hospital using the PICCO cardiac output measurement method and adjusting parameters to increase blood pressure.
On December 29, patient Nguyen Huu Can (76 years old), residing in Thanh Yen commune, Thanh Chuong district, was admitted to the hospital in a state of cyanosis all over his body, with no pulse.
Immediately afterwards, the patient was intubated, ventilated, and had vasopressors used to increase blood pressure, but blood pressure was still unmeasurable.
Doctor CKI Ngo Nam Hai - Head of the Department of Intensive Care - Anti-Poison - Artificial Kidney, together with other doctors, used the PICCO cardiac output measurement method to adjust the parameters, thereby gradually increasing blood pressure.
After nearly a week of intensive treatment, the patient's health has stabilized, the endotracheal tube has been removed, and he no longer needs to use vasoconstrictors and cardiac support drugs.

PICCO is a new method with high applicability, fast, few complications, measuring cardiac index, vascular resistance, water level in and out of the lungs based on the adjustment index.
Doctor CKI Ngo Nam Hai - Head of the Department of Intensive Care - Anti-Poison - Artificial Body said: "For patients with unstable hemodynamics (shock, acute heart failure), if the PICCO method is not performed promptly for the patient, the doctor will not be able to control the heart index and fluid volume in the patient's body; leading to complications such as pulmonary edema, severe cardiogenic shock, rapid heart failure, high risk of death. This is one of the methods that Vinh General Hospital has applied very successfully in recent times"./.
