Provincial Party Secretary: Increase responsibility and enthusiasm for the development of the Western region

At the workshop, comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation thanked and highly agreed with the enthusiastic comments of experts, scientists, and delegates and said that developing the Western Nghe An region is a very important task.

The Provincial Party Secretary focused on analyzing the orientation for developing Western Nghe An, accordingly, it is necessary to first focus on planning the development of Western Nghe An in the overall planning for Nghe An development.

On the basis of planning, it is necessary to calculate to develop infrastructure to develop production areas; residential clusters, urban areas; trade, tourism and industry for the Western region.

Going into specifics, regarding production development in the Western region, Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh first mentioned the agricultural sector, in which this sector needs to aim for two goals: economic development and hunger eradication and poverty reduction.

According to the Provincial Party Secretary, in terms of economic development, attention must be paid to concentrated production areas, priority must be given and policies must be developed to promote them; in terms of hunger eradication and poverty reduction, it is necessary to take care of the conditions and means of production for the people, the most important of which is land distribution to the people.

"These two things must be calculated in harmony so that we can develop the economy but still solve the problem of hunger eradication and poverty reduction" - the Provincial Party Secretary noted.

In particular, the Provincial Party Secretary emphasized that it is necessary to calculate to overcome the current limitation that the agricultural products are not uniform, so it is difficult to call on businesses to invest in processing; at the same time, productivity, quality, and value per unit area have not reached the set target; on the other hand, it is necessary to research to develop medicinal herbs in this area.

Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh also raised the issue of livestock development, whether it is necessary to increase the scale of livestock and poultry or focus on improving the quality of livestock in association with the output market and suggested that functional sectors and localities consider to have a suitable direction. On the other hand, in the Western region there are large hydroelectric reservoirs, which need to be studied to exploit effectively to develop the aquaculture industry.

The Provincial Party Secretary also raised issues regarding industrial development such as agricultural and forestry product processing that need to be reasonably linked to raw material zoning planning, without overlapping each other.

Besides, in the mining industry, it is necessary to research and approach in the direction of providing construction material mines to serve the needs of socio-economic development, and only effective mineral mines should be put into exploitation.

The Provincial Party Secretary also paid attention to developing tourism, services, and trade; paying attention to developing culture and society, especially focusing on education in the region; preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups; and focusing on ensuring national defense and security.

Raising the above issues, the Provincial Party Secretary requested the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee in the conclusion to assign specific tasks to departments and branches to increase responsibility, enthusiasm and thinking in the process of implementing each group of issues for the development of Western Nghe An.

“Because the implementation process is really difficult. If we do not pay attention, review, evaluate annually, and promptly adjust things that are not considered reasonable, the process will slow down a lot,” the Provincial Party Secretary commented.
