Candidates who have not registered their university admission wishes due to unexpected reasons will be supported by the Ministry of Education and Training for 3 days from August 21 to August 23.

At noon on August 21, the Ministry of Education and Training announced that candidates who, for unexpected reasons, have not been able to register their admission wishes to universities within the prescribed time (from July 22 to 5:00 p.m. on August 20) should immediately inform the Department of Higher Education via email.[email protected]within three days, from August 21 to August 23.

This announcement was made after the registration and adjustment period ended, but only more than 616,000 out of nearly 942,000 candidates registered for admission and entered their wishes into the system.

Many experts believe that among the nearly 326,000 candidates who did not register their preferences, most of them changed their direction after knowing their high school graduation exam scores and the minimum admission scores of universities because this is the first year that students registered their preferences after knowing their exam scores. In previous years, students registered their preferences at the same time as registering for the high school graduation exam. In addition, many students chose to skip the domestic university entrance exam to study abroad.

The head of the Training Department of a university in Hanoi said that if most candidates do not register their wishes because they do not meet the minimum admission threshold of the schools and change to a more suitable direction such as studying at colleges or vocational schools, "it is a good thing, a good virtual filtering step".

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, the number of candidates registering their wishes on the system this year is still higher than the number of regular admissions two years ago. In 2021, the whole country had nearly 501,500 candidates enrolling in regular universities, compared to nearly 442,000 in 2020.

However, the fact that about a third of candidates did not register their wishes also raises concerns that there are candidates who have not registered their wishes for unwanted reasons. With the support of the Ministry of Education and Training in the next three days, the rights of candidates will be guaranteed.

Also this morning, the Ministry of Education and Training announced a 3-day delay in the payment of admission fees due to a connection problem with the online payment platform. Candidates will pay fees from August 24 to August 31 instead of starting on August 21 as previously announced. The specific schedule by province and city is as follows:
