Quitting his job in the city, an engineer returned to his hometown to do high-tech agriculture.
(Baonghean.vn) - After graduating from the Information Technology Department of Hanoi University of Science and Technology and being accepted to work at a high-paying private company, 25-year-old Tran Duy Trung returned to his hometown in Tan Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district (Nghe An) to do clean agriculture using high technology.
At the end of 2017, when Tan Thanh commune achieved new rural standards and was supported by the province to build a clean agricultural model, no one in the commune dared to take on the responsibility. At that time, Tran Duy Trung, who was a technical engineer at a private company in Da Nang city, quit his job and returned to his hometown to build the model. He packed his bags and went to Saigon and Da Lat to visit and learn from high-tech agricultural production models.
By early 2018, with the help of local authorities and encouragement from his family, Trung renovated the land in Trieu Canh field to build a model of growing vegetables in a greenhouse using hydroponics.
According to Mr. Trung, if you want to get rich on your homeland through agriculture, you cannot follow traditional methods, but must change your mindset and know how to apply high-tech scientific and technological advances to production to be effective.

On an area of 4,000 m2Mr. Trung built 3 greenhouses, of which 1,500 m2melons, the remaining area is used to grow tomatoes, zucchini and green vegetables. All plants are grown on coconut fiber substrate that has been treated for pathogens, mixed with soil and microbial fertilizers.
According to Mr. Trung, growing vegetables and melons using this method is almost free from pests and diseases, the plants grow evenly, and have high yields; this area only requires 5 workers.
In the greenhouse area, Mr. Trung installed smart devices that set parameters for light, daily temperature as well as environmental factors to provide appropriate care measures that are controlled by mobile phones. In addition, he also designed a drip irrigation system for plants, which both reduces labor and saves water.

Mr. Trung said that after more than 2 months of intensive cultivation, the crops have now brought positive results. It is expected that the first 2,000 melon trees will yield about 8 tons; with the current market price of 40,000 VND/kg, the revenue will be about 300 million VND, not to mention the estimated 8 tons of off-season vegetables and fruits that will be sold on the market.
In the next crop, he plans to plant 3,500 more melons and complete the hydroponic system to grow clean vegetables to supply the market at the end of the year, while promoting joint ventures and finding stable markets for his products.
With passion and determination, the clean vegetable growing model of young man Tran Duy Trung initially brought many positive results right on barren land, becoming a model in high-tech agricultural production in the rice homeland of Yen Thanh.
