On the afternoon of March 1, Dai Loc District Police (Quang Nam) announced that they had successfully solved a robbery case involving an old woman. The robber was a young man from the neighborhood.
According to the investigation results, on the afternoon of February 3, Nguyen Dinh Thuong (34 years old, residing in Dai An commune, Dai Loc district) went to the house of Ms. Nguyen Thi H. (81 years old, residing in the same locality) and discovered that Ms. H. was home alone, so he had the intention of robbing her.

When Thuong arrived, Mrs. H. was downstairs in the kitchen; Thuong “silently” approached Mrs. H. who was sitting. Startled by the unexpected, Mrs. H. fell to the ground, revealing the bag of money in her pocket.
Thuong bent down to grab the money bag from Mrs. H's pocket, but Mrs. H. used her hand to pull her shirt back. At this time, Thuong used both hands to strangle Mrs. H. and pin her to the ground. When Mrs. H. was bleeding from her mouth and no longer resisting, Thuong let go, took Mrs. H.'s money bag, left the house, and escaped by motorbike. When she reached safety, Thuong counted 3.9 million VND inside.
A while later, Ms. H.'s relatives returned home and found her lying motionless, so they quickly took her to a medical facility for treatment. Due to Ms. H.'s poor health and the 2018 Lunar New Year, it was not until February 24 that the family went to Dai Loc District Police to report the incident.
It was determined that although the amount of money stolen was not large, the perpetrator's actions were bold and if the perpetrator was not quickly arrested, it would cause panic among the people, so it was decided to establish a special project to fight and clarify the matter.
Using professional measures, Dai Loc District Police identified Thuong as the perpetrator of the robbery, so they sent many detectives to arrest him and at the same time persuaded his relatives to bring Thuong to the police station to surrender.
On February 28, the family took Thuong to Dai Loc District Police to surrender and admit his crime.
