Prohibition of traffic through the subsidence of the canal in Yen Thanh
A 10m stretch of the canal bank on the Do Luong Bara Canal section through Ly Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District has collapsed and cracked. The irrigation management unit has put up signs prohibiting traffic.
According to the reporter's records, a few days ago, the bank of the Do Luong Bara Canal, passing through Ly Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District, cracked and sank about 10 meters long. The concrete road surface cracked widely, and some sections of the canal bed collapsed heavily, causing both the concrete and the marker posts to collapse.
Some residents of Ly Thanh commune who regularly travel on this canal route said: The cracks and subsidence on the canal bank occurred since the beginning of September when heavy rains hit, and the subsidence became more and more severe. This route also has quite a lot of trucks traveling back and forth.

It is known that the Dao canal was built in 1930, with a length of 56 km connecting Do Luong wharf to supply water to the fields in Yen Thanh, Dien Chau and Quynh Luu districts.

Previously, this canal was invested in the project "Restoration and upgrading of the Northern Nghe An irrigation system" approved for investment by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Decision No. 1929/QD.BNN-TCTL dated August 14, 2012, borrowing ODA capital from Japan (JICA).

The Dao Ba Ra Do Luong embankment package alone is worth 700 billion VND, built from 2019, according to the contract ending in 2021. According to the design of the trapezoidal embankment, the canal is 56 km long, passing through 5 localities including Do Luong, Yen Thanh, Dien Chau, Quynh Luu, Hoang Mai.

Faced with this canal bank subsidence, the Bac Nghe An Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd. has put up signs prohibiting vehicles from traveling and is waiting for a solution.
