(Baonghean.vn) - The recent 2023 high school graduation exam was a memorable and impressive exam for Nguyen Thi Ha Vy, a 12A1 student at Hoang Mai High School, as she was the candidate with the highest score in block D of Nghe An province with 28.3 points.

Vy was born into a working-class family in Quynh Phuong Ward, Hoang Mai Town. Her father worked as a driver transporting construction materials for construction projects, and her mother was a freelance worker who did whatever she was hired to do. Vy's family has 3 siblings, the eldest brother is in his 2nd year at Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, and the youngest sister is about to enter first grade.

Since childhood, aware of the difficult circumstances of the family, Vy and her siblings encouraged each other to study and be independent in daily life so that their parents could go to work with peace of mind.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quang - Vy's father shared: "The freelance job has a relatively unstable income, but the family always tries to create conditions for the children to study at the same level as their friends. In this coastal area, many young people grow up and drop out of school to pursue a career in the sea, but my children are all studious and hard-working. In the past, I also sent Vy to extra classes, but then she said that her parents were still poor, so she studied at home by herself."

Surprisingly, Ha Vy initially planned to register for the A1 block, but the D block subjects were outstanding. Ha Vy's total graduation exam score was 50.3 points, including 9.2 in Math; 9.5 in Literature; 8 in Physics; 8 in Chemistry; 6 in Biology and 9.6 in Foreign Language.

Regarding the test results, Vy said that her scores were not much different from her predictions. After finishing the test, she compared the answers with her teachers and predicted her score quite accurately. However, when she learned that she was the valedictorian of block D, she was quite surprised, her teachers and friends called and texted her to congratulate her.

Sharing her learning experience, Ha Vy said that in her 3 years of high school, more than 1 year was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, making it difficult for her and her friends to acquire knowledge. However, in that situation, she promoted the spirit of self-study and created the habit of self-discovery and research when encountering difficulties in studying. Among the subjects, Vy is best at English. For English, in grade 11, Ha Vy registered for an online course, but then thought about her parents who were struggling to raise her brother to go to university, so she decided to study at home.

She said the most effective way to learn is to be exposed to English as much as possible, such as listening to English music, doing practice tests, and learning the pronunciation of native speakers. Through lessons in class, Ha Vy has a firm grasp of grammar from basic to advanced, doing a lot of exercises on each grammar section so that she can repeat any mistakes to remember. For other subjects, Ha Vy also spends a lot of time studying on her own and she learns relatively evenly.

Mr. Ho Truong Thi - Homeroom teacher of class 12A1, Hoang Mai High School said: Ha Vy is a good student, hard-working and always tries hard in studying, living in harmony with friends. The results are good.valedictorianBlock D was also quite a surprise because I planned to take block A1, but it was completely worth it because there was no luck here but a whole process of striving and training.

Not only is she a good student, Ha Vy also actively participates in collective activities, has been the Secretary of the Youth Union for 2 years and is the Head of the Foreign Finance Department of the Talent Search Club participating in the school's Road to Olympia competition.

Sharing about her future plans, Ha Vy said she is still undecided but will likely study at the Foreign Trade University. Vy also added that when entering university, there will be changes in the learning environment and the way of receiving scientific knowledge, so from now on she must clearly define her goals to achieve the best results, not to disappoint the trust of her family, teachers and friends.

Obviously, no success is spontaneous, it must be built from the most basic foundations and Ha Vy has chosen the right direction for herself in her journey to conquer and be admitted to university and college in 2023./.
