Turkish man gets rich from raising snails in ponds on the mountain
(Baonghean.vn) - Young man Truong Duy Luych, a Tho ethnic in Rang hamlet, Nghia Duc commune (Nghia Dan) has successfully raised apple snails, bringing in high income.

Realizing the large market for apple snails, Mr. Truong Duy Luych researched, learned and invested in this specialty snail. Mr. Luych also successfully researched and bred the snails with a hatching rate of up to 90%.
According to Mr. Luych's experience, apple snails can only live in clean, unpolluted water, and cannot be raised in the same pond with carnivorous fish such as black carp, banana fish, or ducks or geese. The characteristic of apple snails is that they live under the shade of water hyacinths and water lilies, creating a vegetation cover for the snails... Raising apple snails requires low investment costs because their food is available in the garden such as cassava leaves, jackfruit fibers, duckweed, water spinach, banana tree trunks...

The water level in the pond should be kept at 0.5 - 1.5 m for the snails to grow well. The pond bank should not be reinforced but left natural because when breeding, the snails will cling to trees or grass around the bank to lay eggs. The stocking density is from 10 - 12 snails/m2 in a balanced ratio of 1 male - 1 female. Every year, in the third lunar month, the snails enter the breeding season.
HCurrently, Mr. Luych's family has 3 snail ponds, with an area of over 7 sao, each year harvesting millions of snail seeds and 4 - 5 tons of snail meat, with a selling price of 40 - 45 thousand VND/kg of snail meat, earning nearly 200 million VND/year.
