House fire suspected to be caused by power bank explosion

(Baonghean.vn) - At Le Loi block, Quang Tien ward, Thai Hoa town, a house fire occurred, the initial cause was determined to be an exploding backup battery.

At around 9pm on November 14, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga and her daughter came home from exercising and saw a large crowd gathered around their house; they were shocked and did not understand what was happening as their family's 3-room house and most of the household items had been burned down.

Many people present at the scene said: when the fire broke out, because no one was home, the neighbors also discovered it late, so the fire fighting was no longer effective, and the furniture in the house could not be moved out.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga - the homeowner recalled: before leaving the house, she plugged in the power bank to charge her mobile phone, surrounded by flammable objects such as pants, shirts, blankets and sheets, causing the fire...

Ms. Nga also added that the family's estimated damage was nearly 100 million VND.

Currently, the authorities are verifying and clarifying the cause. The local government has initially provided support for Ms. Nga’s family to have a temporary place to live, and the children to continue going to school./.
