Forest fire in Nghia Dan, suspected to be caused by burning vegetation
(Baonghean.vn) - There are no exact statistics yet, but the fire damaged at least 3 hectares of acacia forest, including 2 hectares of forest in 2 communes in Nghia Dan district.
Mr. Hoang Van Quyet - Deputy Head of Nghia Dan Forest Protection Department said: At about 11:30 a.m. on June 28, in hamlet 6, Nghia Thinh commune and hamlet 5B, Nghia Mai commune, Nghia Dan district, a fire broke out in a 3-hectare acacia forest owned by local people.
Some people around the area said that the fire broke out from Khe Ngam forest area (bordering Lim hill forest in hamlet 5B, Nghia Mai commune). Due to hot weather and strong winds, the fire spread quickly, burning about 1 hectare of 4-5 year old planted forest in Nghia Mai commune.
Immediately after receiving information from Nghia Thinh and Nghia Mai communes, in a short time, the District People's Committee mobilized over 300 people, mainly soldiers, police, forest rangers, militia, youth union members and local people, along with fire fighting vehicles to the scene to participate in fire fighting. However, due to the mountainous terrain, fire fighting work encountered many difficulties.

After more than 3 hours of actively extinguishing the fire, by 2:00 p.m. the same day, the fire was basically under control. There are no exact statistics yet, but the fire damaged at least 3 hectares of acacia forest, including 2 hectares of forest in Nghia Thinh commune and 1 hectare in Nghia Mai commune.
Due to the prolonged hot weather, the Forestry Department had to arrange forces to be on duty at the scene to prevent the fire from breaking out again.
