Pho Mon Pagoda gives 189 gifts to the poor in Que Phong district

(Baonghean.vn) - On January 13, Pho Mon Pagoda, Nghi Lien Commune, Vinh City coordinated with the People's Committee of Tien Phong Commune, Que Phong District to organize the charity program "Spring of Happiness and Love" to give Tet gifts to poor people in the area.

After successfully organizing the Buddha's Enlightenment ceremony at the pagoda on the night of January 12, this morning, the charity group from Pho Mon pagoda set off to carry out the first charity program of the year in Que Phong district.

On this occasion, the delegation presented 189 gifts, including 50 for children and 139 for poor and near-poor households in the commune. Each gift included a warm blanket, 10 kg of rice, a box of instant noodles, warm clothes, cooking oil, sugar, milk, boots, supplements, etc. The total value of the gifts was more than 208 million VND.

At the gift giving ceremony, volunteers also organized free haircuts for students.

It is known that in recent years, Pho Mon Pagoda has coordinated with the Bright Buddhism Fund, Chung Linh Pagoda (Thanh Chuong), Quang Duc Pagoda (Nghia Dan) to call on Buddhists and philanthropists to join hands in organizing many charity programs for the poor in and outside the province. In 2018 alone, the pagoda successfully organized 4 major charity programs, giving thousands of gifts to people in mountainous districts of Nghe An.
