National Target Program creates leverage for Tan Ky development
A series of traffic routes and welfare works in Tan Ky district have been invested in and upgraded, creating leverage for the locality to develop sustainable socio-economy.
Many key routes are upgraded
Tan Ky DistrictThere is great potential for developing the agricultural, forestry and mineral exploitation and construction materials economy. However, due to the fact that the transportation network in the remote communes of the district has not been upgraded in the past, the localities have not been able to exploit the potential, and the people's lives are still difficult.

Identifying investment in transport to create a "backbone" for connectivity between regions and areas, as a lever for sustainable socio-economic development, from 2022 up to now, Tan Ky district has focused all resources fromNational Target Programand integrate other programs and projects to invest in upgrading a series of traffic routes.
Visiting the remote commune of Tan Hop (Tan Ky) these days, we witnessed the excitement of local people when the asphalt road was being completed and prepared for handover and use.
This route is nearly 5 km long, connecting from the center of Tan Hop commune to Yen Hoa village, through sugarcane fields, green forests, connecting to the main road of Quy Hop district, opening up new potentials and development advantages for Tan Hop commune in particular. It is known that the total investment to upgrade this route is more than 14 billion VND.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Khuyen - Chairman of Tan Hop Commune People's Committee said: In recent years, the locality has received investment from the State to upgrade many roads from the commune center to the villages and hamlets in a large and systematic manner, helping to "change the face of the villages and hamlets". Along with that, trade and commerce have become more convenient, leading to a significant improvement in people's lives. In 2023, the poverty rate of the commune was 26.1%, by 2024 the rate is expected to decrease to 24%.
“Tan Hop commune is mostly inhabited by Tho ethnic people, the economy mainly comes from growing forests, cassava and sugarcane. Previously, transportation was difficult, cassava and sugarcane had to wait many days before being harvested, even damaged and had to be discarded, causing great losses to farmers. Now that the traffic is convenient, farmers' lives have changed, and the local socio-economic situation will certainly improve a lot,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Khuyen added.

In remote communes such as Dong Van, Huong Son, Tien Ky (Tan Ky)..., many traffic routes have been concreted and asphalted.
Huong - Phu - Hanh route is a project that the province is allocating public investment capital for with a total investment of 148 billion VND. After more than 2 years of construction, 13/18 km have been paved, with the remaining 5 km expected to be completed this year.

At the same time, last June, Tan Ky district started the project to upgrade the 14km road from Tan An to Dong Van, with a total investment of nearly 72 billion VND from the provincial budget, expected to be completed in 2 years.
Tan Ky is a mountainous district with a total natural area of 72,890 hectares, including 3 ethnic groups: Kinh, Thai, Tho living together. The whole district has 36,073 households, 140,010 people, of which ethnic minorities have 7,364 households, 32,288 people, accounting for 21.7%.
Newly built welfare facilities
In Tan Ky district today, there are many schools, health stations, community water supply projects, etc. that the district is interested in investing in. Huong Son is a poor commune of the district, and in recent years has been given priority in capital investment for a number of key projects.

We were present at Huong Son Commune Health Station in mid-August, when the medical team here was preparing to move equipment into the newly built, spacious building.
Comrade Nguyen Dinh Hoi - Chairman of Huong Son Commune People's Committee said that the commune health station was invested with nearly 4 billion VND, of which the capital source of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction is 1.8 billion VND, the people contributed 600 million VND, the remaining 1.6 billion VND is the commune budget. The project started in November 2023 and has now been basically completed and is ready to be put into operation.
“Previously, the commune health station had only two level 4 houses, built decades ago. The medical staff and doctors worked in difficult conditions, lacking in facilities, unable to meet the needs of initial medical examination and treatment for the people. Now, with synchronous investment from offices, patient rooms... to sanitation facilities, the medical staff and doctors can work with peace of mind,” said comrade Nguyen Dinh Hoi.

Tan Hop Primary and Secondary School (Tan Hop Commune) has just been invested in and built from capital from the National Target Program on New Rural Construction.
Standing in front of two newly built, spacious classrooms put into use at the beginning of the next school year, teacher Le Dinh Quyen - Vice Principal of the school excitedly said: The school has 732 students, of which 96.7% are ethnic minority children, along with that, the school's facilities are still lacking, which somewhat affects the quality of teaching and learning.
With 2 blocks of buildings, including 14 newly built classrooms, it has met the needs of studying 1 shift/day for all grades. The plan is that in October, the school will reach the National standard phase 1.

According to information from the Tan Ky District Construction Investment Project Management Board, from 2022 to now, there have been 20 key projects and works built in the district, with a total investment of nearly 200 billion VND (including 16 traffic works, 4 school works, medical stations and domestic water). To implement, the capital source of the National Target Program is 17 projects; the capital source of the new rural construction program is 2 projects and the public investment capital is 1 project.
In recent years, Tan Ky district has promoted the internal strength of the people, effectively invested capital sources from the provincial and central levels... In particular, special attention has been paid to investing in the construction of electricity - road - school - station infrastructure, considering this as a lever to promote economic development, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, especially for ethnic minorities in remote communes that have long faced many difficulties in transportation.
