Expert Nguyen Thanh Vinh: Vietnam will beat Malaysia with a score of 2-0
(Baonghean.vn) - Before the second leg of the AFF Cup 2018 final, former SLNA Club coach Nguyen Thanh Vinh shared his comments with Nghe An Newspaper.
I think the performance of the Vietnam team in the first leg of the final had several very good elements. That is, our team promoted the defensive-counterattacking style of play, created many dangerous opportunities and scored two beautiful goals.
In the last match, the Vietnamese team's strikers played very well, breaking the opponent's defense system every time they attacked. Many times our team's strikers were in a 1-on-1 situation with the Malaysian goalkeeper. Unfortunately, Ha Duc Chinh and some teammates wasted their chances.
However, there are some points that I am not really satisfied with Coach Park Hang-seo's students. In addition to wasting good opportunities, the defense of the Vietnam National Team also revealed many shortcomings.
At the end of the match, the defenders showed obvious fatigue when they could not keep up with the home team's players. Besides, our players still brought the V.League style of play to the national team, with unnecessary fouls. As a result, the Vietnamese team conceded 2 goals from set pieces.

Another weakness is in the case of Dang Van Lam. In the first leg of the final, this goalkeeper had many unreasonable situations in and out. Dang Van Lam's ability to control the penalty area was not really good, even standing still on the goal line allowing the opponent to comfortably head the ball to score. In my opinion, this is not okay. Of course, no one understands their students better than the head coach, so the decision belongs to Mr. Park Hang-seo.
In the second leg of the final, Malaysia will certainly play aggressively from the start, as they are forced to win to win the championship. Coach Tan Cheng Hoe will instruct his players to play in a “50-50” style, “all or nothing”.
If they get the lead, they will retreat to defend to preserve the score. Malaysia's advantage lies in their ability to hold the ball and take advantage of set pieces, especially aerial situations.

In fact, the attacking tactics of the opposing team are not very diverse and dangerous. The Malaysian team often uses the wing and crosses the ball inside. As long as the Vietnamese team's defense plays focused, it will be easy to neutralize.
But we must be especially wary of player number 9 Talaha, player number 11 Rasid – who scored the equalizer 2-2 in the previous match and the naturalized midfielder number 13 (Sumareh – PV). By keeping these players in check, the risk of conceding a goal for the Vietnam team will be greatly reduced.
With home advantage and 2 goals scored at Bukit Jalil Stadium, I believe Vietnam will win 2-0 in the second leg of the final. Phan Van Duc and Nguyen Cong Phuong will be the ones to score, of course Nguyen Cong Phuong will come off the bench like in the second leg of the semi-final against the Philippines. The scenario of the group stage match between the two teams will be repeated in the upcoming second leg of the final./.
