Ms. Tran Thi Hien (residing in Thanh Vinh ward) sent a question: According to current regulations, how are underage people who drive motorbikes punished?

Reply:

According to Article 18 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP, the act of driving a vehicle while underage will be punished depending on the type of vehicle and the age of the violator.

Specifically, for people from 16 to under 18 years old, if driving a motorbike with a cylinder capacity of 50cm³ or more or an electric motorbike with an engine capacity of 4kW or more, they will be fined from 400,000 VND to 600,000 VND.

In case a person from 16 to under 18 years old drives a car, four-wheeled motorized passenger vehicle, four-wheeled motorized cargo vehicle, or similar vehicle, the fine increases from 4 million VND to 6 million VND.

In addition, parents or guardians who let their children drive vehicles when they are not qualified will also be punished according to regulations on the act of handing over vehicles to people who are not qualified to participate in traffic.

Compliance with regulations on driving age is not only to avoid fines, but also to ensure safety for oneself and the community. Therefore, families and schools need to enhance their responsibility in educating and reminding children to strictly comply with traffic laws, contributing to building a safe and civilized traffic environment.
