One heart for the homeland

Teacher Nguyen Thi Lan Canh (born in 1952) in Hamlet 2, Xuan Lam Commune (Nam Dan - Nghe An) once joined the "steel team", working in Truong Bon during the anti-American war, experiencing many hardships and witnessing the heroic fighting and sacrifice of her comrades. After that, after completing her mission, she took the exam to study pedagogy and became a teacher.

Teacher Nguyen Thi Lan Canh has made many contributions to the cause of "growing people" in the communes of Nam Cat, Xuan Lam and Kim Lien, and has held the position of Vice Principal. In 2007, after retiring under the regime, she joined the Association of Former Teachers, then the Women's Union and the Association of the Elderly. In every organization she joined, she demonstrated a sense of responsibility, was proactive and creative, and became the "locomotive" of the movements.

This teacher shared: “Proud to be a son of Uncle Ho's homeland, I always imbue him with his teachings: "Anything that benefits the people must be done with all my might." Therefore, while I am still healthy and able to work, I am willing to do anything, big or small, to help people and do things that are meaningful to the community and village life.”

People in hamlet 2, Xuan Lam commune still remember a few years ago, when implementing the new rural construction, the Women's Union of the commune launched a movement to build a green - clean and beautiful landscape, every dayteacherNguyen Thi Lan Canh volunteered to sweep and collect trash on the streets of the village.

Next, she nurtured flower seeds to plant along the roads, aiming at the dream of having brilliant flower roads in her hometown. At that time, some people expressed concern, thinking that what teacher Canh was doing was “trying to patch up the sky with stones”. But the female teacher still persevered and diligently swept the village roads and watered the newly sprouted flower beds.

Faced with her enthusiasm and dedication to the movement, the villagers actively responded, at first only a few people, then dozens of people, then most of the families in the village.

And when the commune and village launched a movement to donate land to open roads, contribute money and effort to build rural roads, once again, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Canh's family actively responded. She mobilized her children and grandchildren near and far to contribute money to support the construction of rural concrete roads. The total amount of money contributed by her extended family amounted to tens of millions of dong, and was recognized by the commune as a typical family in the construction movement.new rural.

With her reputation, Ms. Lan Canh also joined the Management Board and the hamlet's organizations to mobilize people to donate land and trees to widen the country roads. Ms. Lan Canh's work created a strong influence, and soon the hamlet's roads were always clean, with flowers blooming on both sides. That contributed to changing the appearance of her hometown, creating confidence in change and improvement in all aspects of life.

Sow good seeds for life

Speaking of teacher Nguyen Thi Lan Canh, people in Xuan Lam commune also talk about a person with a kind heart, willing to share with those in difficult circumstances. A few years ago, Mr. Tran Van Thang, a person in the same village, unfortunately suffered a stroke, his family was poor, had no money for treatment, medicine, so Ms. Lan Canh helped him.

Along with direct cash support, the teacher posted Mr. Thang’s situation on Facebook, calling for help from the online community. And no one expected the amount of money that benefactors sent to help to reach more than 400 million VND, providing an opportunity for Mr. Thang and his family to “get through this difficult time”.

Another case that Ms. Lan Canh helped was Tran Thi Cam Tu, who lives in the same neighborhood with her mentally ill mother and her grandmother, who is over 80 years old. Due to extremely difficult and deprived circumstances, Cam Tu was at risk of not being able to go to school. Sympathizing with her family's situation, Ms. Lan Canh reduced her spending and voluntarily supported her with 200,000 VND per month so that she would have more opportunities to go to school.
