Con Cuong builds temporary houses to evacuate people from areas at high risk of landslides.
(Baonghean.vn) - While waiting for a survey to arrange a resettlement area to stabilize the long-term lives of 17 households in the high-risk landslide area in Bung Xat village, Chau Khe commune, Con Cuong district, the Chau Khe commune government has deployed temporary houses to urgently evacuate households from the dangerous area.
As reported by Nghe An Newspaper, due to the impact of storm No. 9, there was a landslide at the foot of the hill in Bung Xat village, Chau Khe commune.
People checked and found a large crack about 80m long on the hillside, from the foot of the negative slope to the crack 60m away. In addition, there were many small cracks and subsidence on the hill surface.

Currently, there are 17 households with 68 people whose houses are located right at the foot of the embankment that have been damaged by rocks and soil.landslidesto the foundation of the house. If the hill continues to collapse, the estimated amount of rock and soil from the hill, thousands of cubic meters, can completely bury the apartments below, and also block the entire traffic route from Chau Khe Border Guard Station to the commune center.

To ensure the safety of households in that dangerous area, especially the impact of the upcoming storm No. 13 which will have heavy rain, the People's CommitteeCon Cuong districtThere is a plan to evacuate people from the danger zone.
In the immediate future, the district and commune mobilized local forces, police, Youth Union, Women's Union, Border Guard Station and local people to support materials to build 6 temporary houses to evacuate 6 households at highest risk from the danger zone. The remaining 11 households still stay in place, but when there is heavy rain, the locality must organize the evacuation from their homes.

In the long term, Con Cuong district is urgently hiring consultants to survey and develop a plan to urgently handle the land block at risk of landslides and arrangeresettlement, stabilize the lives of all 17 households in areas at risk of landslides.
