Police summon 5 more people for spreading news 'Vinh City will apply Directive 16+' on Facebook

On the afternoon of August 20, the leader of the Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department (Nghe An Provincial Police) said that up to now, there have been 8 cases of posting false information about "Vinh City applying Directive 16+" and have been summoned for questioning.

In addition to the 3 cases that were fined a total of 25 million VND this morning, the authorities are still working on the remaining 5 people and have not yet made a decision on the fine. "These 5 people have just been summoned, with similar behavior to the 3 people who were fined this morning," said an officer in charge of handling this case, adding that during the process, the individuals admitted their violations and pledged not to re-offend.

Currently, the authorities are completing the documents for handling according to regulations with administrative fines ranging from 5 to 10 million VND per case.

Previously, at noon on August 19, many Facebook accounts simultaneously shared information confirming that Vinh City would apply Directive 16+... This information immediately caused panic among people, who rushed to supermarkets to buy food. The crowded situation at supermarkets increased the risk of Covid-19 infection. However, this information was completely untrue.

During the verification, the police determined that the information originated from the Facebook account of Mr. NTL (residing in Le Mao Ward, Vinh City). This man was fined 10 million VND this morning.
