The Port's report shows: Cargo throughput in the first 9 months of 2020 is estimated at 3,089,945 tons, an increase of 12.12% compared to the first 9 months of 2019 and reaching 81.31% of the 2020 plan.

Of which: Import and export output in the first 9 months of 2020 is estimated at 887,027 tons, an increase of 26% compared to the first 9 months of 2019 and reaching 84.48% of the 2020 plan; Transit output in the first 9 months of 2020 is estimated at 293,937 tons, reaching 70.92% compared to the same period in 2019 and reaching 48.99% of the 2020 plan.

Domestic cargo output in the first 9 months of 2020 is estimated at 1,908,981 tons, up 16.57% compared to the first 9 months of 2019 and reaching 88.79% of the 2020 plan; Container cargo output in the first 9 months of 2020 is estimated at 67,491 TEUs equivalent to 1,201,783 tons, up 2.77% compared to the first 9 months of 2019 and reaching 76.06% of the 2020 plan.

Overcoming difficulties, in the first 9 months of 2020, Nghe Tinh port has attracted many new goods and many goods through the port have grown. Specifically: Container cargo is estimated at 1,201,783 tons, an increase of 2.77% compared to the first 9 months of 2019. Container cargo output has increased partly due to the source of potassium cargo from Laos, which is packed in containers and transferred to Hai Phong for international export. In addition, the fact that Vietsun and GLS shipping lines have increased the exploitation of cargo sources and arranged reasonable ship schedules has also contributed to increasing the output of container cargo through the port.

The output of various ores is estimated at 248,646 tons, an increase of 2.52% compared to the first 9 months of 2019 and reaching 65.43% of the plan. In the first 9 months of 2020, the output of various ores was mainly iron ore imported from Laos for domestic use and transit to China. For bacitra ore, in the first 9 months of 2020, the output reached 41,080 tons of goods through the port. The output of various liquids (gas, asphalt, vegetable oil, etc.) in the first 9 months of 2020 is estimated at 77,855 tons, an increase of 17.76% over the same period in 2019. The reason is that the domestic demand in the region and neighboring areas for this type of item has increased, leading to an increase in the output of goods through the port.

Some items such as sand and coal also achieved good output.

Pre-tax profit is estimated at VND 9,166 million, up 9.69% over the first 9 months of 2019 and reaching 73.92% of the 2020 plan.

Pier No. 5 is a pier that accommodates large ships located downstream, controlling the sea space. It is not obstructed by fishing boat activities, making it very convenient for ships to enter and exit and ensuring maritime safety and security. Therefore, Pier No. 5 is a highlight to attract more customers, especially goods originating from Laos such as: various types of ores, coal and general merchandise.

In the first 9 months of 2020, the Company is implementing the followingProjectSpecific equipment procurement investment: New investment project 01 40-45 ton pedestal crane, has completed the selection of contractors for Packages 1 & 2. Currently, Nghe Tinh Port is implementing the selection of contractors for Package 3, expected to complete the project in the first quarter of 2021. Investment project 2 semi-automatic container grab frames, 01 wheel loader for cleaning, 03 tractors for transporting containers within the port. Contracts have been signed with the selected contractor. Other projects such as 02 wheel loaders, 02 6m3 grab buckets, 06 cars... have investment plans.

Despite many efforts such as focusing on strengthening market activities, customer care, introducing measures to attract customers such as improving service quality, sharing difficulties with them, combining with container shipping lines to provide additional value-added services and considering opening an international container route at Cua Lo port... to attract more transit goods from Laos, Northeast Thailand and Western Nghe An through the port, the difficulties are still very great.

Epidemic situationCovid-19is still complicated and unpredictable. It is expected that the volume of goods passing through Nghe Tinh Port in the last 3 months of the year will tend to decrease, especially goods from Laos.

In addition, fishermen's fishing boats often occupy Cua Lo Port wharf as a mooring place, hindering the exploitation of the wharf, maritime safety and security and order at the port, but the local government has yet to find a solution to support the port.
