Covid-19: US continues to lead in number of deaths; Singapore has second outbreak
The US has the highest number of Covid-19 cases and deaths in the world while the epidemic is complicated in many regions.
Americaofficially surpassed Italy in the number of deaths due to Covid-19 on April 11, becoming the country with the highest number of cases and deaths from this disease in the world. According to Worldometers, the US recorded nearly 27,000 more cases positive for SARS-CoV-2, bringing the total number of cases in this country to 529,867. Meanwhile, with 1,746 deaths in 24 hours, the total number of deaths in the US is now 20,493 cases, surpassing the number of 19,468 deaths from Covid-19 in Italy.

The United States is about to enter a second “painful week” in President Trump’s warning. For the past four days, the country has recorded nearly 2,000 deaths each day, with the majority of those in and around New York City.
Health experts warn the US death toll could reach 200,000 by summer if unprecedented orders to close businesses and keep people at home end after 30 days.
Most current travel restrictions, including school closures and orders for nonessential businesses to close, are issued by state governors, not the president.
However, President Trump said he wanted life to return to normal as soon as possible and said that measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 were having a significant impact on the economy.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Education Secretary Richard Carranza sent a letter to parents announcing the closure of city schools.
"We have decided that schools in New York City will not open for the 2019-2020 school year. Teachers and students will complete the school year through distance learning."

In addition, there were 4,694 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases in the world's third largest epidemic to 152,271. The Spanish government on April 11 issued guidelines for people to return to work after easing lockdown regulations amid the country recording the lowest number of Covid-19 deaths in 24 hours since March 23.
Most Spaniards have been asked to stay at home since mid-March, while only essential businesses have been allowed to open. However, from Monday (April 13), some sectors such as construction and manufacturing will be allowed to reopen, allowing thousands of people to return to work. However, under guidelines issued by the Prime Minister’s office, companies that do return to work must provide appropriate protective equipment and ensure that employees are spaced two metres apart.
Number of deaths from Covid-19 inUnited KingdomThe death toll from the coronavirus in the UK has risen by nearly 10,000 in 24 hours after health officials reported 917 more deaths from the disease. This was also the highest daily death toll in Europe on April 11, making the UK the country with the fifth highest death toll in the world.
Nearly 80,000 people in the UK have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, including the British Prime Minister - who is recovering after spending three nights in intensive care.
Downing Street said Prime Minister Johnson "continues to make very good progress", but Home Secretary Priti Patel insisted the British leader needed more time to fully recover.
The Covid-19 epidemic in the Middle East continues to have complicated developments as the number of cases in Türkiye continues to increase.
