Dien Chau voters upset about environmental pollution around Dien Hong Industrial Cluster
(Baonghean.vn) - People living around Dien Hong Industrial Park, Dien Chau District, reported having to live in a polluted environment and often have to endure the stench from the industrial park.
On the afternoon of June 20, in Dien Ky commune, National Assembly deputies of constituency No. 5 met with voters of Dien Van, Dien Ky, Dien Xuan, Dien Hong and Dien Thap communes, Dien Chau district after the 7th session of the 14th National Assembly.

Voter Nguyen Van Trung, hamlet 1, Dien Ky commune, reported that Dien Hong Industrial Park has been operating for many years, causing environmental pollution and affecting the surrounding people.
Mr. Trung said: "The facilities in the industrial cluster collect all kinds of waste from bottles, batteries, and very dirty iron and steel. During the day, people here have to endure toxic wastewater, and at night, they have to inhale smoke from iron smelting and plastic granulation facilities. People are very upset."

“People living nearby have to live in a polluted environment, often having to endure the stench from the industrial park. The most dangerous thing is that wastewater from factories seeps into water sources, and agricultural land is left fallow and unproductive. It especially affects people's health. This is a hot issue, people have repeatedly reported it to all levels and sectors but it has not been resolved," Mr. Trung added.

Regarding this issue, voter Vu Thai Son - Head of Xuan Bac Hamlet, Dien Van Commune, reflected: Wastewater from factories in Dien Hong Industrial Park flows into irrigation ditches to serve people's production. Wastewater is toxic, has a foul smell, affects rice production, and fish farming causes fish to die. Voters request that authorities have solutions to reduce environmental pollution for people.
In addition, voters of Dien Chau district proposed that the State pay attention to policies for people with meritorious services; compensation for land clearance on National Highway 1A; Dien Van and Dien Kim river dyke projects; health insurance policies; investment in building rural roads, granting and exchanging land use right certificates;...

The opinions and recommendations of voters were answered by the leaders of Dien Chau District People's Committee within their authority. Deputy Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Nguyen Thanh Hien also represented the delegation to receive and respond to the recommendations of Dien Chau District voters.
