Voters of Yen Thanh district petition for high prices of fertilizers and agricultural materials

On the morning of June 22, at Long Thanh commune, deputies of the 15th National Assembly in constituency No. 3 had a meeting with voters of Vinh Thanh, Vien Thanh, Xuan Thanh, Hop Thanh and Long Thanh communes, Yen Thanh district.

At the meeting with voters, people of Long Thanh commune (Yen Thanh) made 11 recommendations to the National Assembly delegation in many fields.

Contributing to the salary policy, voter Le Cong Luan - Chairman of Long Thanh Commune Veterans reflected that the current salary regime for grassroots cadres at the ward and commune levels is very low, making it difficult to feel secure in their work. He proposed that the Government study and review the salary and allowance policies and regimes for grassroots cadres at the ward, commune and town levels, creating motivation for grassroots cadres to work.

The issue of improving the efficiency and value of agricultural production is a concern of voters in Long Thanh commune. According to voter Dong Van Hanh in Van Trai hamlet, Long Thanh commune, the majority of rural people work in low-income agricultural production, many people have to go far away to work.

According to voter Hanh, how to drain water and prevent water from entering and causing flooding in Long Thanh commune is an issue of concern to the government and the people. Because Long Thanh commune is a monoculture rice commune, each year it only harvests one winter-spring crop, while the summer-autumn crop mostly fails due to waterlogging, causing many fields to be abandoned because people do not dare to invest.

Sharing the same concern, voter Thai Van Sy in Van Trai hamlet, Long Thanh commune (Yen Thanh) expressed concern about people abandoning their fields. According to the voter, due to the increasing prices of fertilizers and pesticides, while rice production has low economic efficiency, people are no longer interested in production.

Farmers want the State to have policies to stimulate demand for agricultural material production enterprises so that they can reduce costs, stabilize fertilizer prices, and input materials to support farmers in agricultural production. Along with that, the State continues to have investment policies to increase the value and efficiency of agricultural production.

In addition, voters of Yen Thanh district reflected and recommended to National Assembly deputies related to the following areas: Issuing land use right certificates; urgently implementing Decision 22 on supporting workers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic; policies for people with revolutionary contributions; and environmental protection.

In the field of education, voters suggested that the State should pay attention to adjusting the regime for contract teachers at preschool level; textbooks for secondary school classes are too expensive, causing difficulties for parents of students in rural areas. The work of streaming 9th grade students faces many difficulties, etc.

Clarifying the issues that voters of Yen Thanh district are interested in and raising related to the agricultural production sector, Mr. Nguyen Van Ha, Head of the Department of Quality Management of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Products of the province, explained that the high prices of fertilizers and pesticides are due to fluctuations in the world market, especially the high price of gasoline, so imported raw materials for the production of agricultural materials also increase.

To solve this problem, the industry has proposed many solutions for ministries, sectors and the Government to "cool down" the prices of agricultural input materials. The Government has issued many documents to reduce the prices of fertilizers and pesticides. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the People's Committee of Nghe An province have issued official dispatches to stabilize the prices of fertilizers and pesticides. However, the prices of agricultural input materials are still high.

“In addition to advising all levels and sectors on how to reduce input costs for the people; strengthening inspection and handling of poor quality products, the provincial agricultural sector has promoted propaganda to encourage farmers to use by-products from livestock production such as organic fertilizers to limit the use of purchased materials. At the same time, this is a way for people to convert the model of limiting the use of fertilizers and pesticides to applying organic production models to ensure food safety,” said Mr. Ha.

In addition, the opinions of voters of Yen Thanh district were received, explained and clarified by representatives of departments, branches, Yen Thanh district and National Assembly deputies.
