Assessment of the current status of the Cau Giat - Nghia Dan railway line

(Baonghean.vn) - On December 13, the Vietnam Railway Authority and the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, the People's Committees of Quynh Luu district, Thai Hoa town and units under the Vietnam Railway Corporation inspected and assessed the current status of the Cau Giat - Nghia Dan railway line.

LineCau Giat - Nghia Dan railwayThe 30km-long railway was built in 1966, starting from Cau Giat station (Quynh Luu) and ending at Nghia Dan station (now Thai Hoa town). During its heyday, this route helped connect the Northwest region of Nghe An with the North-South railway. Currently, this railway has stopped operating passenger trains in 2006 and freight trains in 2012.

However, after 10 years of inactivity, this route has experienced serious violations of infrastructure, encroachment on land corridors reserved for railways, and railway safety corridors. Specifically, there are 217 violations and encroachment on railway corridors (Quynh Luu district has 61 points and Thai Hoa town has 156 points).

During the inspection, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, together with relevant localities and units, reviewed the locations of violations to classify the violations and have appropriate handling directions. The delegation inspected Quynh Chau Station, Nghia Thuan Station and Nghia Dan Station, along with a number of railway-road crossings. Each location revealed different issues related to determining the land boundary of the station with the land of local people; the problem of encroachment on infrastructure; encroachment on corridors to build temporary houses, kiosks, tents, canopies, etc.

After this inspection, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee will coordinate with relevant localities and units to have a report, propose specific solutions, and advise the Provincial People's Committee to have a written response to the Ministry of Transport regarding the inspection and overall assessment of the Cau Giat - Nghia Dan railway line. At the same time, develop a plan to deploy the installation of land boundary markers for railways and publicly announce the land boundary markers for railways. Strictly handle violations and new developments in encroachment of corridors or re-encroachment and illegal use of land in railway traffic safety corridors...
