Muong Ham Temple and Muong Ham Festival (Quy Hop) are ranked as provincial historical relics.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of February 15, the People's Committee of Quy Hop district held a ceremony to receive the Certificate of Provincial Historical Relic Ranking for Muong Ham Temple and Muong Ham Festival 2024.
According to legend, Muong Ham was founded by Tao Noi, the only son of Tao Muong Ton from Que Phong district. Muong Ham was merged from Muong Khun Tinh and Muong Ham, now Chau Cuong and Chau Quang communes, Quy Hop district, Nghe An province.

Previously, Muong Ham Festival was called Tham Pun Pang - Nang Ni Festival. Muong Ham has beautiful caves and charming landscapes, with many folk cultural activities of ethnic groups.
Here, Chau Cuong commune has restored Muong Ham temple to worship and remember the merits of Tao Noi, which is a branch temple of Chin Gian temple in Que Phong district (60 km to the West). Therefore, not only Thai people in Quy Hop district but also in Quy Chau and Que Phong districts come to celebrate. This is considered the first festival of the new year according to the customs and practices of Thai people in Western Nghe An.

The ceremony includes: Opening ceremony, worshiping, offering and thanking Tao Muong and Tao Noi to review the merits of building the village and establishing the village of the gods, which is performed on the morning of the 5th day of the first lunar month.
From the 5th day of Tet, there is a mass art performance, and on the 6th day of Tet, there is a procession of Tao Noi to the temple and the opening ceremony. During the 2 days (5th and 6th lunar month), there are competitions in traditional sports and community cultural activities such as throwing con, shooting crossbows, carving bamboo, dancing bamboo poles, etc., attracting thousands of visitors to the festival.

At the Ceremony to Receive the Provincial Historical Relic Ranking Certificate for Muong Ham Temple and Muong Ham Festival 2024, local people enthusiastically opened Muong Ham Festival, a festival imbued with local identity, with the festival part being cultural activities to welcome the New Year and Spring; after this festival is the day of opening summer, going to the fields to increase production.
