Forecasting that Typhoon No. 6 will have unpredictable developments and intensity, Nghe An province is planning a concentrated response.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 18th, anticipating that Typhoon No. 6, after approaching the central coastal provinces, would interact with a cold front, making its development and intensity unpredictable, Nghe An province issued Document No. 221/BCHPCTT directing concentrated response efforts.
According to information from the North Central Region Meteorological and Hydrological Station, at 7:00 AM on October 18th, the center of Typhoon No. 6 was located at approximately 18.4 degrees North latitude and 113.8 degrees East longitude, about 310km northeast of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands. The strongest winds near the center of the typhoon were at level 12-13, with gusts up to level 15, moving in a west-southwest direction at a speed of about 15km/h.

To proactively and effectively respond to and minimize damage caused by storms and post-storm flooding, the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense requests the Steering Committees for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of districts, cities, towns, and relevant agencies and units to seriously implement the contents of Official Dispatch No. 34/CĐ-QG dated October 16, 2022, of the National Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention - National Committee for Incident Response, Disaster Relief and Search and Rescue; and Official Dispatch No. 11/CĐ-BCH dated October 16, 2022, of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense.
Inform owners and captains of vessels operating at sea about the location, direction of movement, and development of the storm so that they can proactively take precautions, evacuate, or avoid moving into dangerous areas, ensuring the safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle any adverse situations that may occur.
At the same time, focus on inspecting and reviewing residential areas, resolutely relocating and evacuating people, vehicles, and property from dangerous areas, especially areas at risk of landslides, flash floods, and flooding, to ensure the safety of people's lives and property, as well as state property.
In particular, it is crucial to strengthen communication and guidance to the public on safety skills and risk reduction during floods; absolutely no complacency should be allowed before, during, and after the storm.
The relevant units immediately implemented the assigned tasks.
Accordingly:
The North Central Region Meteorological and Hydrological Station is closely monitoring the development of the storm and post-storm rainfall and flooding, providing timely forecasts and information to relevant agencies and the public so they can proactively respond appropriately.
Department of Transportation: Prepare personnel, materials, and equipment to promptly address incidents and ensure smooth traffic flow on major transportation routes; urgently direct and coordinate with local authorities and relevant agencies to clear auxiliary structures serving the construction of transportation projects that affect flood drainage.
Department of Agriculture and Rural Development: Directing efforts to ensure the safety of dikes, dams, and aquaculture activities, especially vulnerable dams, those with full water levels, and construction or repair projects; protecting agricultural production. Preparing drainage plans in case of heavy rainfall.
The Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Border Guard Command, and the Provincial Police Department are ready with forces and resources to support the evacuation and relocation of residents, search and rescue operations, and response to and mitigation of the consequences of storms and floods when required; the Provincial Border Guard Command, based on the development and forecast of the storm, will promptly advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue orders.No signif necessary.
