Nearly 1,000 teachers and students of Vinh city participate in STEM Festival

STEM FestivalThis year, the program is being implemented with the theme “For a Bright – Green – Clean – Beautiful Coastal City”. In this program, students at all levels will participate in many interesting competitions. In particular, preschool students will participate in the competition “Sunbot Arena – Homeland”. Through this, students will compete in assembling STEM models, aiming to build the image of a bright, green, clean and beautiful coastal city.

For primary and secondary school students, students will assemble robots, compete, program, design robots and apply AI technology to participate in competitions revolving around the topics of ocean robots, waste sorting robots, marine environmental protection robots, renewable energy... and handle real-life situations to educate about environmental protection. The highlight of this year's competition is the focus on the element of cooperation and alliance, encouraging students to not only compete but also coordinate to find optimal solutions in various fields.

At the festival, there were 12 booths displaying teaching aids of teachers throughout the city to spread teaching methods oriented towards STEM education and apply digital transformation in schools, applying knowledge of subjects to solve practical problems.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Hoang Phuong Thao - Head of the City's Department of Education and Training emphasized: For the 2018 General Education Program, students are always placed at the center of teaching and educational activities to promote their capacity and qualities, and the application of STEM education in schools has proven to be appropriate and effective. STEM education is an educational model based on an interdisciplinary approach, helping students apply knowledge of science, technology, engineering and mathematics to solve a number of practical problems in specific contexts.

Through the STEM Festival, the city's Education sector hopes to contribute to the successful implementation of the General Education Program that schools across the city have been determined to implement.

The festival is also a practical experience in science and technology. Through it, knowledge and skills in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are formed and developed through application to solve problems.

Thanks to that, students are trained in thinking, creativity, debate and critical thinking skills. At the same time, it will contribute to promoting the movement of innovative teaching methods, applying STEM education in teaching at schools; spreading awareness of STEM education in the community.

The city's education leaders also hope that with the spread of the program, parents and teachers will better understand the meaning of scientific research for students.

From there, we will support, nurture dreams, encourage and create conditions for students to participate in scientific research and creative activities right in the classroom environment.

The STEM Festival takes place over 2 days, March 22 and 23. According to the plan, this afternoon, the Organizing Committee will award prizes to the teams, according to the competition contents with a structure of 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes and 6 Encouragement Prizes for each content.

Teams that win the Encouragement Prize or higher will be awarded a certificate along with a prize money and cup from the sponsor./.
