Gas price increased by more than 2%, rice price fluctuated in opposite directions, rice continued to decrease

Today, March 25, domestic gold prices fluctuated, with SJC gold currently at 67.35 million VND/tael (selling). Meanwhile, world gold prices turned to decrease, closing the trading session at 1978 USD.

At the time of survey at 5:00 a.m. on March 25, on the trading floor of Saigon Jewelry Company SJC, SJC gold was 66.60 million VND/tael for buying and 67.50 million VND/tael for selling.

At Phu Quy Jewelry Company, at the time of survey, the listed price of SJC gold was at 66.60 - 67.30 million VND/tael (buy - sell).

DOJI listed the price of 9999 gold at 66.50 million VND/tael for buying and 67.25 million VND/tael for selling.

Vietinbank Gold price is listed at 66.65 million VND/tael for buying and 67.37 million VND/tael for selling.

The price of SJC gold at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited is also traded by the enterprise at 66.68 - 67.29 million VND/tael (buy - sell). The price of 24K Rong Thang Long gold of Bao Tin Minh Chau is listed at 54.22 - 55.22 million VND/tael in two directions.

According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 5:00 a.m. today, Vietnam time, was at 1,978.965 USD/ounce. Converted according to the current exchange rate at Vietcombank, the world gold price is about 56.65 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is still 10.70 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price. Meanwhile, the US gold futures price decreased by 0.6%, to 1,983.80 USD.

* Gas ​​prices rise more than 2%; concerns over supply-demand imbalance

Gas prices today, March 25, recorded an increase of 2.04% to 2.198 USD/mmBTU. Although natural gas prices have increased again, there are still concerns about the imbalance of supply and demand.

The gas market has been volatile in recent weeks. Last month, gas prices fell continuously by 5-7%, then increased by about 6% towards the end of the month.

In the domestic market, from March 1, many gas businesses announced price reductions. Each 12kg gas cylinder delivered to consumers has been reduced by an average of VND16,000, and 45kg cylinders by VND60,000, depending on the brand.

Specifically, the gas price of Ho Chi Minh City Petroleum Company Limited (Saigon Petro) from March 1st decreased by 16,000 VND/12kg cylinder. With this reduction, the retail price to consumers is 461,000 VND/12kg cylinder.

Vietnam LPG Trading Joint Stock Company, Southern Branch, from March 1st, reduced 16,000 VND/12kg cylinder and 60,000 VND/45kg cylinder. The maximum retail price of LPG Vietnam to consumers is 475,912 VND/12kg cylinder and 1,784,670 VND/45kg cylinder.

The retail price of City Petro gas from March 1 also decreased by VND16,000/12kg cylinder. Accordingly, from March 1, the retail price to consumers of the City Petro gas brand is VND494,500/12kg cylinder and VND1,854,000/45kg cylinder.

Similarly, the retail price of Petrolimex gas cylinders (including VAT) in March 2023 in the Hanoi market is 464,700 VND/12 kg household cylinder; 1,858,600 VND/48 kg industrial cylinder, respectively decreasing by 15,800 VND/12 kg cylinder and 63,400 VND/48 kg cylinder (including VAT).

* Rice prices fluctuate in opposite directions, rice continues to decrease

Current rice prices in the Mekong Delta are mixed between varieties. In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices have decreased by 5 USD/ton.

Currently, the price of raw rice and finished products is at 9,050 - 9,150 VND/kg, down 200 VND/kg; finished rice is at 10,050 - 10,150 VND/kg, down 200 VND/kg. As for by-products, the price of by-products fluctuates in opposite directions. Currently, the price of dry bran is at 8,100 VND/kg, down 100 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the price of broken rice is stable at 9,000 VND/kg.

Regarding rice, prices have been adjusted in opposite directions for some varieties. Specifically, at An Giang warehouse, Dai Thom 8 rice is being purchased by traders at 6,700 - 6,900 VND/kg, down 100 VND/kg. Meanwhile, OM 18 rice has been adjusted up 100 VND/kg to 6,800 - 6,900 VND/kg.

For the remaining rice varieties, prices remained stable. According to traders, today there was more rice coming in, prices of many rice varieties such as Dai Thom 8 and OM 18 continued to decrease. The rice market was stable, but demand remained slow. For by-products, bran prices fell in most localities, and demand for bran was weak.

In the world market, the export price of Vietnamese rice continued to decrease by 5 USD/ton today. Currently, the price of 5% broken rice is at 453 USD/ton; 25% broken rice remains at 433 USD/ton.

Along with Vietnamese rice, Pakistani rice prices also decreased by 5-25 USD/ton. Accordingly, 5% broken rice was at 468 USD/ton, down 5 USD/ton, 25% broken rice decreased by 5 USD/ton to 438 USD/ton; 100% broken rice decreased sharply by 25% broken rice to 423 USD/ton.

According to businesses, in recent days, rice prices have tended to decrease but not much. The reason is that at the beginning of the season, rice prices increased too high, both purchasing and processing businesses and importers did not make a profit, so the market cooled down.
