World gold price this afternoon September 17, 2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours
According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:00 p.m. on September 17, Vietnam time, was 3,664.46 USD/ounce. This afternoon's gold price decreased by 29.91 USD/ounce compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,457 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 116.9 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of gold bars is 15.4 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.
On the afternoon of September 17, 2025, the world gold price continued to fluctuate around the record peak. However, the market is facing strong resistance due to the new interest rate policy that is about to be applied, making the price trend more unpredictable.
In Ho Chi Minh City, many small shops have adjusted the price of SJC gold bars to 134.5 - 136.5 million VND/tael for buying and selling, an increase of about 2.5 million VND/tael compared to yesterday.
Meanwhile, the price of plain gold rings at small gold shops also increased but was still significantly lower than that of large gold companies. This afternoon, plain rings were traded at around 116.5 - 118.5 million VND/tael.
On September 16, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assigned the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) to tighten management of both the foreign exchange and gold markets. The goal is to stabilize the market and narrow the gap between domestic and international gold prices.
The State Bank of Vietnam was also asked to strengthen inspections and strictly handle acts of hoarding, price inflation or gold smuggling. The State Bank of Vietnam was assigned to immediately open a website to publicize gold prices and to study the possibility of establishing a gold trading floor to increase transparency.
