At the same time, the price of gold bars was listed by Saigon Jewelry Company Limited - SJC at 128.6 - 131.1 million VND/tael (buy - sell), the price increased by 500 thousand VND/tael for buying - unchanged for selling compared to the closing price on September 14 yesterday.

World gold price this afternoon September 15, 2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours
According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 6:00 p.m. on September 15, Vietnam time, was 3,641.67 USD/ounce. This afternoon's gold price decreased by 1.1 USD/ounce compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,476 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 116.1 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of gold bars is 15 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.
Last week, domestic gold prices plummeted, narrowing the gap with world gold prices to nearly VND6 million/tael compared to the peak at the beginning of the month. This is a positive signal showing that the market is gradually stabilizing.
The decrease in the week from September 8-13 was up to nearly 6 million VND/tael for buying and 3.2 million VND/tael for selling.
Notably, the price of gold on the free market is much lower than that of large companies. As of the afternoon of September 15, SJC gold bars were listed at 127.6 - 129.6 million VND/tael (buy - sell), about 1.5 million VND/tael lower. Compared to the peak of 143.5 million VND last week, the price of free gold has lost nearly 14 million VND/tael.
Most businesses have adjusted the price of gold rings down. At many small stores, the price of 99.99% pure gold rings is traded at a record low of 112 - 114.5 million VND/tael (buy - sell), up to 13 million VND lower than that of large dealers.
The sharp price drop followed the Prime Minister’s directive at a meeting with the Policy Advisory Council on the afternoon of September 7. While the world price remained stable at over 3,600 USD/ounce, the domestic price fell by nearly 5 million VND/tael, helping to narrow the gap.
Last week, the world gold price remained unchanged despite high inflation and expectations that the Fed would cut interest rates. Expert Rich Checkan commented: if the Fed cuts interest rates on September 18, gold prices will benefit and increase. On the contrary, if interest rates remain unchanged, the market may witness a sell-off to take profits. Mr. Adrian Day also expects gold prices to increase this week as it attracts more new investors.
Meanwhile, the USD-Index rose slightly to 97.66 points. The yield on 10-year US Treasury bonds was at 4.082%. US stocks rose ahead of the Fed's policy meeting. World oil prices also rose slightly, with Brent crude at $67.28/barrel and WTI crude at $63.02/barrel.
