At the same time, the price of gold bars was listed by Saigon Jewelry Company Limited - SJC at 128.1 - 131.1 million VND/tael (buy - sell), a decrease of 300 thousand VND/tael in both buying and selling directions compared to the closing price on September 12.

This decline has pulled the domestic gold price away from the peak of nearly 136 million VND/tael that was set at the beginning of the week. Not only SJC gold, many gold trading companies and commercial banks also lowered their listed prices to the lowest level in many days.
The price of 99.99% gold rings and jewelry also decreased, although the decrease was less than that of gold bars. In two days, each tael of gold rings decreased by more than 2.2 million VND.
The sharp drop in domestic gold prices is completely opposite to the world gold prices. The main reason comes from the gold market management measures of the Government and the State Bank. Many people rushed to sell gold, pushing the price down faster than expected. According to assessments, the gold price may fall even deeper, investors must be very careful if they want to buy or sell gold at this time.
In early September 2025, when the domestic gold price increased very rapidly, the difference with the world gold price sometimes exceeded 20 million VND/tael. A series of stores on Hanoi's gold street announced that they had run out of SJC gold bars and were only selling gold rings in very small quantities.
At large stores, each person is only allowed to buy a maximum of 1 tael of gold. Even gold rings are sold out within minutes of opening. However, today, when the gold price dropped to 4.4 million VND/tael, large stores on Tran Nhan Tong Street (Hanoi) allowed customers to buy in large quantities, up to 20 taels, completely different from the restriction at the beginning of the month.
