Two drug addicts hired to transport drugs for free use were caught

On March 4, the Investigation Police Agency of Nam Dan District Police (Nghe An) announced that the unit had just arrested two subjects Mong Van Mao (born in 1987), residing in Xien Huong village, Xa Luong commune, Tuong Duong district and Vi Van La (born in 1989), residing in Kim Lien village, Ngoc Lam commune, Thanh Chuong district for the act of storing and illegally transporting drugs.

In early 2020, through reconnaissance work, Nam Dan District Police discovered many strange subjects in the area, with some unusual signs related to drug crimes. Focusing on monitoring and verifying, the detectives discovered two subjects Mong Van Mao and Vi Van La with suspicious behavior related to drug crimes.

Persistently following and grasping the area, collecting documents and evidence, the detectives determined that this was an inter-district drug trafficking ring operated by the two subjects to lowland districts for consumption, with extremely sophisticated and cunning methods of operation. However, because the two subjects were from other areas, often appearing and disappearing and often choosing deserted locations to conduct drug transactions, it caused many difficulties for the police force to surround and intercept them.

After many days of ambush and surveillance, on February 27, the detectives received important information that they were preparing to transport a large amount of drugs to Nam Dan district for consumption. Through verifying the information, the detectives also discovered that they were carrying weapons in order to fight back against the authorities if discovered. Therefore, plans to arrest the two subjects and the evidence were carefully planned to ensure the safety of the investigation team.

On the evening of February 27, detectives discovered two subjects traveling by motorbike with signs such as: frequently stopping, looking around for a long time before continuing to move. Detectives determined that the two subjects were Mong Van Mao and Vi Van La.

At around 7pm the same day, when they moved to Quy Chinh hamlet, Nam Dan town, realizing that the opportunity to solve the case had come, the detectives rushed out to arrest them. Surprised, the two subjects did not have time to react and were controlled and arrested immediately afterwards. Searching the scene, the police discovered and seized evidence including: 35 grams of drugs, 21,600,000 VND, 3 phones, 1 motorbike and 2 utility knives.

At the police station, the two subjects initially tried to deny their crimes. However, with the evidence and documents from the investigation agency, the two subjects initially admitted their crimes. Accordingly, they confessed that the drugs were hired by an ethnic man (unknown origin) in Tuong Duong district to be transported to Nam Dan district. If the mission was successful, they would receive 5 million VND for the transportation fee and be able to use drugs freely. It is known that Mao and La are two long-term drug addicts.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Nam Dan District Police is consolidating the case file to initiate criminal proceedings and prosecute Mong Van Mao and Vi Van La according to the provisions of law.
