That veteran is Thai Ba Phu, in hamlet 15A, Nghia Thuan commune, Thai Hoa town.

He brought the sheep from Ninh Thuan to graze on his family's hilly land.

At first, due to changes in living environment and limited knowledge of animal husbandry, many of Mr. Phu's family's original 28 sheep died, leaving only 18.

"When I saw many sheep dying and the remaining ones were weak, I was very worried because all of my family's capital was focused on the sheep. After many days of researching from many channels about sheep raising techniques and how to take care of sheep, I applied them with the determination to raise them at all costs" - Mr. Thai Ba Phu shared.

After many failures, Mr. Phu's flock of sheep is now growing and developing well; they breed twice a year, and now the flock has grown to 50 sheep, many of which are in the breeding stage.

According to Mr. Thai Ba Phu, sheep's main food is grass, so the family can take the initiative in the source of food grown in the garden near the house; it takes about 6 months for sheep to reach a weight of 25 - 35 kg/head. Recently, Mr. Phu has sold 12 sheep with more than 300 kg of meat. With the current market price of 170,000 VND/kg, after deducting expenses, he has earned tens of millions of VND.

Mr. Phu added: "After a period of raising, I have gained experience and am very confident with this animal; in the near future, I will increase the herd to about 300 animals. As for the consumer market, I am not worried because lamb is a fairly new food, many restaurants come to order in large quantities but there is not enough to meet the demand."

Currently, the sheep farming model of Mr. Phu's family is considered typical in the economic development chain built by the Veterans Association of Nghia Thuan commune, Thai Hoa town.

Mr. Ngo Quang Dao - Chairman of the Veterans Association of Nghia Thuan Commune, Thai Hoa Town said: "We have identified this model as the core of the economic development association that has been built and developed for over a year now. It not only provides a good income but also affirms the beauty in the nature of soldiers, creativity, determination to get rich and overcome difficulties.

In Thai Hoa town, this is the first sheep farming model. Previously, a household in Bao Thanh commune, Yen Thanh (Nghe An) also successfully raised sheep.
