(Baonghean.vn) - Their mother passed away from cancer just over two years ago, and now their younger sister has leukemia. That is the pitiful situation of the two orphaned brothers Hoang Viet Nam in Trung Chinh hamlet, Trung Phuc Cuong commune, Nam Dan district.

Present at Nam's house in Trung Chinh hamlet, when he left home to Vinh to take his younger sister Hoang Thi Huyen Trang (7 years old) to the Central Hematology Hospital in Hanoi. In front of the small house, Mr. Hoang Viet Hong (71 years old) - Nam's uncle shared in a sad mood: "After his mother passed away, Nam's younger sister was taken care of by SOS Children's Village, this house is only for Nam to live."

More than a week ago, Trang fell ill, and the mothers at SOS Children's Village and the Board of Directors of SOS Children's Village Vinh took her to Vinh City General Hospital for examination. Realizing some unusual problems, the doctors transferred Trang to the Hematology Department, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital for examination and monitoring. There, Trang was diagnosed with leukemia. Mr. Le Ba Luong, Director of SOS Children's Village Vinh, said that as the person who directly took Trang to the hospital, he and everyone else were very sad and worried, so they arranged for Trang to go to the Central Hematology Hospital on the night of August 11.

Informing reporters from Hanoi, Hoang Viet Nam said that his sister is currently unconscious in the emergency room. Nam is on duty, taking care of her and worrying about her at the hospital. "After the consultation, the doctor said that my sister's condition is very serious, the prognosis is difficult. My sister may have to be taken back to her hometown" - Nam said with tears in his eyes.

It is known that Nam was born in Dak Lak, when he was 2 years old, his parents separated. Mrs. Hoang Thi Huong - Nam's mother, was heartbroken and took her child back to her hometown to live. Her maternal family built a hut in the garden to have a place to live. In 2009, with the support of the Women's Union of Nam Dan district, this hut was replaced by a 2-room tiled house. After that, Mrs. Huong also gave birth to another child so that Nam "had a brother and a sister". Every day, the 3 mother and children worked hard to support each other. Mrs. Huong did all kinds of hard work, from construction work, to spraying pesticides, weeding... to earn money to raise her children to study.

Mrs. Huong's family is quite lonely. Her paternal side doesn't care about her, and her maternal side has 5 uncles, 1 of whom has passed away, 3 of whom are disabled, and only 1 is normal, but the family is poor and can't help them.

It was thought that the life of Nam and her three children would pass peacefully, but unexpectedly, disaster struck. In early September 2017, Mrs. Huong had a headache, so the mother and her children drove to the hospital for examination and found out that she was seriously ill. From the district hospital, thanks to the help of her brothers, neighbors and parents of Nam Dan 2 High School, Mrs. Huong was transferred to the provincial hospital and then to Bach Mai Hospital - Hanoi. There, the doctor concluded that she had terminal brain cancer. Listening to the doctor, her relatives took her back to her hometown and she passed away a few days later (at that time Nam was in 12th grade).

Growing up without knowing his father, the breadwinner of the family passed away from cancer, leaving only two orphaned siblings in the small house. In 2018, after the first anniversary of his mother's death, Nam's younger sister was taken in by SOS Children's Village to be cared for and raised. Over the years, overcoming difficulties, after finishing high school, Nam has done many jobs to make a living, such as working as a construction worker, helping with mechanical work for aluminum and glass workers... He works hard and lives alone in a charity house.

About 7 months ago, while working, Nam was poisoned by chemicals and had to go to the hospital for treatment, even going all the way to Dak Nong to take medicine for a long time. Nam just finished taking medicine more than 3 months ago, and his health is currently only stable. There are two brothers in the family, each living in a different place, the older brother just recovered from his illness, the younger brother has a serious illness, and disasters continue to befall Nam's family.

When you go to the old Nam Trung commune and ask about the situation of Nam and his brothers, everyone in the area knows. Ms. Tran Thi Thanh - Nam's next-door neighbor confided: "Even though I am not related by blood, I am also heartbroken when witnessing the continuous disasters that befall Nam's family. His mother died, he became an orphan, and they depended on each other. I thought the tragedy would end there, but who would have thought..."

Mr. Le Ba Luong - Director of SOS Children's Village Vinh said that when Trang went to Hanoi for treatment, the National Board of Directors of SOS Children's Village Vietnam sent staff from the Village to visit and talk with the doctor directly treating Trang. The doctor said that Trang was quite seriously ill, with a hemangioma but 80% of the cells were brain cancer, and the white blood cell count was 100 times higher than allowed. In addition, she also had a blood clotting disorder. Currently, the doctor is performing a bone marrow aspiration, waiting for test results to come up with a treatment regimen for Trang. "Trang's situation is very difficult, her mothers, aunts and village staff have tried to visit and support her, but to have more conditions for treatment, she really needs the community's cooperation", Mr. Le Ba Luong shared.

Sharing the situation of Nam's family, Mr. Hoang Nghia Lan - the head of Trung Chinh hamlet, Trung Phuc Cuong commune said: "Nam and his brother have an extremely pitiful situation, one of the most special situations in the commune. Their mother passed away not long ago, the two brothers are orphans, and now their sister has a serious illness. With the spirit of "the rich help the poor", more than ever, Nam's situation needs the help of kind-hearted people and the community.
