Complete Vinh Urban Development Sub-project by December 31, 2018
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 4, the World Bank delegation led by Mr. Dang Duc Cuong - Senior Urban Expert visited and worked with the People's Committee of Vinh province and Vinh city on the Vinh urban development sub-project. Receiving and working with the delegation was Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
The Vinh urban development sub-project has a total investment of over 168 million USD, of which ODA loan from the World Bank is 98 million USD. Up to now, the total disbursed capital from the World Bank is 71.297 million USD, reaching 85% of the total existing project capital; counterpart capital has been provided 1,119 billion VND; project implementation time is 95%.
Currently, the remaining construction packages of the project such as: upgrading and renovating Vinh ancient citadel moat; building the road connecting National Highway 46 with the Lam River road; the 72m Vinh - Hung Tay road have basically been completed.

Evaluating the project implementation results, the head of the World Bank delegation acknowledged the efforts of Vinh province and city, and believed that the project would be successfully completed, promoting the effectiveness and feasibility of the project.
For packages such as: Upgrading and renovating the North Canal, the regulating lake, and the ancient citadel moat, after completion, will contribute to improving the environment. However, the city needs to pay attention to dredging the North Canal, handling the collection of wastewater before discharging into the lake and canal to minimize the risk of wastewater affecting the environment.
For construction packages in the bridge and road categories such as: Road connecting National Highway 46 with Lam River Road; 72m Vinh - Hung Tay Road, the delegation acknowledged the efforts of the province and city in site clearance and the need to focus on speeding up and completing the project on schedule. The delegation also evaluated the project support items such as: Asset management software, developing public passenger transport by bus and using the remaining capital of the Dong Vinh Canal project.

Receiving the opinions and recommendations of the working group, the representative of the provincial People's Committee committed to focusing on resolving the remaining items of the project in the coming time, striving to complete the project on schedule by December 31, 2018. At the same time, he hoped that the World Bank would support the province and the city in terms of documents, procedures as well as disbursement of capital to complete and close the project in accordance with regulations.
