Vinh City students enthusiastically participate in STEM Festival

On the morning of April 2, the Vinh City Department of Education and Training held the opening ceremony of the STEM Festival for the 2022-2023 school year. This year's STEM Festival attracted the participation of more than 500 students from many schools across the city. This is also the first year the festival is held at all three levels: Preschool, Primary and Secondary.
With the theme “Unleashing Creativity”, the STEM festival was held with many competitions including: STEM products of teachers and students, design and manufacture of load-bearing bridges with the theme: “The bridge connecting the shores of joy”, design and manufacture of “Rescue Robots”, Robot tournament, SUNBOT arena.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Hoang Thi Phuong Thao - Head of Vinh City Department of Education and Training emphasized the role of STEM education in schools today.
In particular, in the 2018 general education program, students are always placed at the center of all teaching and educational activities to promote their abilities and qualities. Therefore, STEM education in schools has proven to be suitable and effective for current educational perspectives.

Through this year's Stem festival, the city's education sector hopes that students at each level will have practical experiences in science and technology.
In particular, preschool education will help children form initial, rudimentary ideas about science through activities and products with scientific and technical elements; thereby, nurturing their souls and love for science.

For primary and secondary school students, the STEM festival will be an opportunity for them to express their passion for scientific and technological innovation, demonstrate creative thinking, and demonstrate their ability to apply theoretical knowledge acquired in subjects to solve practical problems.
These are the necessary abilities and qualities of students in the new era. The organizers also hope that through the STEM festival, parents and teachers will better understand the meaning of scientific research for students. From there, they will support, nurture dreams, encourage and create conditions for students to participate in scientific research and creativity activities right in the classroom environment.
