More than 16,000 Lao students are studying in Vietnam
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of February 22, at Vinh University of Technical Education, the Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Vietnam held a Conference to summarize the 2017-2018 school year and plan for the 2018-2019 school year of Lao students in Vietnam.
Attending the conference on behalf of the Lao People's Democratic Republic were Mr. Kong sy Seng Man ny - Deputy Minister of Education and Sports, Mr. Vieng say Da La sen - Counselor - Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
On the Vietnamese side, there was Mr. Nguyen Hai Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation - Ministry of Education and Training, representatives of universities and colleges with Lao students studying in Vietnam.

Implementing the Agreement on economic, cultural, educational and scientific and technical cooperation between the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in the 2017-2018 school year, Laos and Vietnam organized a recruitment exam and selected 1,246 people to study and research in Vietnam in the two fields of Administration and National Security and Defense.
This brings the total number of Lao students studying in Vietnam in the 2017-2018 school year to 14,686. Of these, 147 are postgraduates, 845 are postgraduates, 7,555 are university students, and the rest are in college, high school, Vietnamese language preparatory courses, and cultural studies.

During their studies in Vietnam, most Lao students have a firm political and ideological stance, and follow the Party and State's policies and regulations. In addition, Lao students actively participate in all extracurricular activities, cultural, artistic, sports and community activities. Nearly 2,900 Lao students were awarded academic awards during the year.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Lao Deputy Minister of Education and Sports thanked the Vietnamese government, universities, colleges and institutes for their support in creating conditions for Lao students to study and train well.

He also affirmed that creating conditions for Lao students to study in Vietnam has helped Laos improve the capacity of thousands of cadres and students. At the same time, it has also contributed to strengthening the relationship, solidarity and attachment between the two countries.
In the 2018-2019 school year, the number of Lao students studying in Vietnam is more than 16,600. To improve training efficiency, the Lao Embassy will continue to coordinate with the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports and the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training to implement the project "Improving the quality and effectiveness of Vietnam-Laos cooperation in the field of education and human resource development". In addition, it will coordinate with schools to jointly check and urge the learning situation of Lao students and jointly solve arising problems.
On this occasion, the Lao Embassy in Vietnam awarded more than 1,300 Lao students studying in Vietnam. During the ceremony, the students studying at Vinh University of Technology and Education and Vinh University were directly awarded.
