More than 16,400 people died from nCoV worldwide
The death toll from the coronavirus continues to rise rapidly in Europe, bringing the global death toll to more than 16,400 out of more than 378,000 infections.
Covid-19 has appeared in 195 countries and territories. Italy, Spain, France, and the US are the countries with the highest number of deaths in one day.

Italy, the largest epidemic area in Europe and the second largest in the world, recorded 63,927 infections and 6,077 deaths, an increase of 4,789 and 601 cases, respectively. The mortality rate in this country is about 9.5%, twice the global average. An aging population and overloaded hospitals are two of the reasons why the mortality rate in Italy is especially high.
TSpainSpain is the second largest epidemic area in Europe with 35,136 infections, 2,311 deaths, up 6,368 and 539 cases respectively compared to the previous day. The Spanish government has locked down the whole country after declaring a state of emergency for 15 days, starting March 14. About 46 million people must stay at home, only going out to go to work, buy food, go to the pharmacy, hospital or other emergencies.
Virtuerecorded 4,183 more infections and 29 deaths, bringing the total to 29,056 and 123, respectively. Despite being the fifth largest epidemic area in the world and the third largest in Europe, the country's death rate is only about 0.42%. Steffen Seibert, spokesman for German Chancellor Angela Merkel, announced that the first test result showed that Ms. Merkel was negative for nCoV after contact with an infected doctor.
Europe has now reported more than 10,000 deaths from nCoV, accounting for about 62% of global deaths.
InMyes, 9,883 new infections were identified, bringing the number of Covid-19 cases nationwide to 43,449, of which 545 people died, an increase of 132 cases compared to the previous day. The delay in the Covid-19 screening campaign in general and the lack of non-stop testing stations in particular have made it difficult for public health officials to monitor the spread and control the epidemic.
Iranremains the second largest epidemic area in Asia, after mainland China, with 23,049 infections and 1,812 deaths. This is also one of the countries with a high mortality rate, partly due to the health system being heavily affected by sanctions.

In Southeast Asia,Malaysiais the largest epidemic area with 1,518 infected people and 14 deaths.Indonesiais the country reporting the highest number of deaths in the region with 49 deaths out of 579 infections.
In total, the world recorded nearly 1,900 more deaths, mostly in European countries, bringing the number of deaths from nCoV to 16,490. Meanwhile, 101,584 people, or 26.8% of the infected, have recovered. The Turks and Caicos Islands, Belize and Myanmar are the countries and territories with new outbreaks.
